I have a similar problem.....the cord does not retract properly...I have tried oiling the pull cord assembly & this does help but every so often when you pull the cord it does not retract

The starter cord does not retract at all. The mower is only two years old. I took off the case and cannot get to the area that houses the cord and cannot fix it.

    Any suggestions>?

SOURCE: Victa 2 stroke starts OK then stops

After much mucking about, discovered that the washer on the fuel cap is missing. When the fuel cap is tightened it seals the fuel tank. Eventually the motor is starved.
It then starts and runs for progressively shorter periods.

Not sure what engine that machine uses but they are all similar, you need to prewind the reel before you slip the rope thru the hole, let the spring/reel pull the rope in.

Hi Mary, the air filter is on the carburator. There is a cover over it that just snaps off or is held on by a couple of screws. The carburator is where you can adjust for low or high speed with a lever or have a cable going to it to adjust the speed. It might also have a primer on it. That is the carburator. Remove the air filter take a look at it for dirt, grass clippings, etc. especially in the bends, clean it as best you can with air or tapping it on the ground. After doing that see how much is left on it. Air has to go through it so decide if you should replace it, they are not very expensive so I would buy a new one. Hope that helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

How to change cord victa corvette 160cc 2stroke electronic ignition

On assuming its fitted with a victa 2 stroke engine in which case unscrew the 3 cross head screws on the top plastic cover and remove it. You should then see the top of the engine and the recoil starter. Undo and remove the 3 bolts holding the starter to the engine. Remove the starter housing gently as there will be a large o ring under the stater. Once the starter is off you can undo the centre bolt and remove the recoil pulley and spring. When refitting starter smear a little oil on the large o ring to stop it from being damaged

How do i fix the pull start and re tension it so cord retracts?

You take the top of the motor off with the starter, then rewind the spring, then is a good idea to replace the rope with a new one they sell rope at a lawnmower store, get 5 feet or more if the rope is up on the handle, take a piece of rope with you to get the correct size.

Trying to replace pull cord for kee tm22 push mower. new cord will not retract. replaced with new cord and now cord will not retract when pulled. spring came out while removing old cord but replaced in...

Take off the whole assembly, find and replace the spring, manuually wind up the reel until it is loaded with tension in the direction that will retract the cord. THEN put new cord in through the feedhole then the assembly, then tie a small figure eight knot at the very end of the pull cord, pull it tight so it stays in its recess and then let the cord retract by releasing the tension. - you now have a fully charged retractor assembly. put it on tightly with the three 10mm bolts, reattach the plastic cover and git mowin.
