I'm afraid there isn't away to do this for free. Olympus sells a program for image workflow and editing called Studio 2 that will also allow you to shoot tethered to your computer. It is $100. They are offering a free trial on the Olympus site: OLYMPUS Studio.

I also found an independent developer who made a small program to shoot tethered called E-Capture. It's only $10 and may be what you need. This is a link to his blog where he describes it in greater detail and where to get it.

Hope this helps

I thought I had the same "problem." The symptoms were identical. Try pressing the "disp" button to the right of the LCD screen a time or two to get the screen the way you want it. There are three settings: LCD off, LCD on, LCD on with grid marks. I'm a novice, but this worked for me!

If your battery is fairly new, you've got to clean the contacts for the battery inside the camera. Do this with a "dampened" Q-Tip with rubbing alcohol. Do the same to the battery and the charging station. These contacts are vulnerable to very small amounts of impurities that float in the air.Best of luck my friend, Dana

If you're viewing the photo in Nikon CaptureNX2, select the picture or double-click on it. You'll see the information in the Metadata tab.

I have a Nikon d100. I have a 2GB Sandisk Extreme III that was full. I transferred the photos to my computer. Trashed the files on my computer so the card was empty. Put the card back into my camera and...

Format the card using the format the card option on your camera. There's a possibility that the formatting process made by the computer is not recognized/supported by your camera

Displays file error message when trying to playback still images and video footage

Did you take the card and insert into computer/device to view photos?

Viewing photos can alter the format of the photos thereby preventing your camera from reading them.

I viewed some photos and rotated a few photos and my camera no longer recognizes the format.

good luck

Camera won't turn on.

Your ccd imager is defective . You need to replace the ccd imager .Thats why screen turned red .
Connect your camera to computer and try viewing the photos .
Or use card reader to transfer photos to computer .

Replacing ccd will cost you around $150 .

Viewing photos without time and date

Unfortunately the Nikon Coolpix 7900 does not have a 'display' button to take care of this. So you need to go through Menu to access Setup menu. Here you will get option to customize the display.

'File error' message on samsung L200 camera when viewing a photo

Possible solution:

I had/have the same problem using L200 and SDHC memory card, called Samsung. Can't view certain pictures on camera or computer, camera freezes when viewing those certain pictures, green light flashing.

Samsung support told me that I needed to copy my (good) pictures to a computer first because a memory format will erase everything. Then format (menu->settings->format->yes) my memory card. Tried this just now and took some new pictures, so far so good.
