Check your blower wheel for a lint buildup or other obstruction.
Remove the front panel to access the blower wheel.

The motor on the Maytag Neptune MDE7550 Dryer is very hard to spin by hand. Is this normal.

You should not need to spin the motor by hand. Check if the belt is not to tight or the motor itself could be defective.

Maytag gas dryer mdg9306awa anits sounds like it wants to start but doesnot

that is the motor, try this, open the door, push the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other hand while someone else pushes the start button,if by moving the drum the motor does start to run the motor is bad, also you have the neptune style maytag and i don't think there's a belt switch in the model so if the belt broke it could be jammed in the motor, try spinning the drum to help it start if that doesn't work unplug the dryer, open the door, remove the two screws that hold the door on and then remove the other two screws on the opposite side, grab the top of the front panel and pull forwards to remove the front panel, you can leave the door on or lift it up and pull out to remove the door, now look to see if the belt broke,if the belt is rapped around the center of the drum then it isn't broke and it will be the motor, that's a good dryer and worth changing the motor on it.

A zipper from a comforter is lodged between the moving drum and its housing causing a possible drag on the rotating drum. not sure how to dislodge zipper or remove drum to access

The whole drum should move a bit. Try turning it by hand and pushing back on it (or pulling forward). Also, you can try lifting up quite hard (drum is free to move about 1/2" in all directions the way most are set up. I havn't seen this specific unit but it is worth a try.

Otherwise, I think there is a set of screws around the top perimeter holding the top deck on. Remove that and you will have a better view of what moves and by how much.

Remember )

1) Unplug the unit before unscrewing anything.

2) Make sure everything is put back as you found it before putting lid back on.

Also, you won't break anything by only taking it apart to look. Have fun doing it and good luck. Hopefully they used standard screws instead of some tamper-resistant fasteners that German manufactures are using a lot of lately (Braun, Krups, Bosch, ...).

Most hopefully, you can get it un-stuck by shifting the drum a bit.

Sounds like the drum rollers have gone bad. There are 2 of them inside the back that support the bottom of the drum. The model # seems be off a little since the the websites I checked for parts are not coming up with that #.

To fix it, you will need to pull the drum out. Once you have done that, you will see the rollers. Spin the rollers fast with your hand and if they do not spin smoothly, they should be replaced. You can also check them by by moving the up and down and sideways for any play. Note they will move forward and backwards a little bit. This is normal.

Always unplug your appliance before servicing.

Good luck

Tub stopped turning, connot turn by hand either.

Dryers have a belt that turns the drum, I think dryer belt being broken or slipping badly, burn out motor, or worn support parts.
---Dryer have a belt that rotate the drum, If the belt worn out or broken, it can not move the drum then you just need to replace it. ---You can check motor by hearing buzzing sound, if the belt has the problem. If you do not hear any sound from the motor then you may have to replace it. ---Try to move drum manually (by hand), if it is hard to turn then problem with the idler pulley, glides, or drum rollers.
I hope this will solve you problem

My dryer flew off of a dolly when loading it on a trailer to move it. It smells like rubber is burning when I turn the dryer on. It was working fine until we moved the dryer. Could it be the belt is loose?

If the dryer fell some distance, the drum is probably out of alignment.

If the drum is not spinning at all, something has jammed the drum and the belt is being overheated by the motor pulley.

If the drum is spinning and there is a rubber smell, the drum has been knocked off of its rollers and/or glides.

In either case, the dryer needs to be opened. Click the link below:

My maytag dryer won't start. When I push the start button it makes a "errrrrrr" sound but won't start. Any ideas?

Stuck drum or failing motor. Try turning the drum by hand. It should move fairly effortless in one of the directions. If it does - the problem is in the motor. If it does not rotate - check if something is stuck between the drum and rear or front panel. Good luck Motor part number is 31001589. Replacing it is fairly hard for untrained.

Past few days, dryer got very noisy. Then drum

The noise is coming from a moving part. There are only a few that normally cause a problem. Also the dryer drum not turning freely is what broke your belt. Here is what I would replace. Drum rollers, Drum slides and idler pulley. You can check these parts before you replace them. If the drum rollers don't spin real easy, replace. If the idler pulley does not turn easy, replace. If the drum slides are worn, replace. Your model may be one with a front drum bearing. If it looks worn, replace.
You may be able to take dryer apart, try turning drum. Listen for the noise and notice if the drum is hard to turn. If so, you may be able to determine if the problem is in the front or back of drum. Keep on mind that the noise might have been the belt slipping due to the drum being hard to turn. Either way, when you have it repaired, it should run with the noise. Good luck.
