Question about Western Digital My Book Essential Edition (WDG1U5000N) 500 GB Hard Drive
My external My Book fell from a table and it didn't want to turn on. I opened it and found out the problem was the connection with the usb/power card. I'm positive the hard drive itself is still fine, but I need a new usb card. Anyone knows where I can find the same exact one they use?
Considering the fact that you can buy them from Western Digital, for an arm and a leg of coarse. I would say look on ebay for a junk one with a bad hard drive and just swap it. Other than that you can buy just an empty hard drive enclosure off ebay or newegg pretty cheap...around 20 bucks. I am taking it your hard drive would probably be a SATA. But before you buy, make sure the connectors will fit. it will be long and skinny, which is IDE or short and skinny, SATA.
