Sounds like you might need a new AC-power adapter or dc-jack. Does wiggling the power plug on the computer make any difference? If the screen comes on when you wiggle the power plug, then you need a new dc-jack. If not, then maybe the AC-adapter is bad, I see a lot of replacement adapters being sold for the Aspire One.
Worst-case scenario is that you have a power problem on the motherboard, let's hope not.
if the unit will power one with ac adapter plugged in then you have a bad battery. check to see if you dc jack on the lap top lights up when you plug in the AC. if it does not light up then your dc jack or ac adapter is bad.
If the hard drive tested out ok (?) then I would burn a copy of memtest (free just google it) boot from it and test the memory. I would suggest though that the issue is the hard drive or possibly motherboard
Hi, if it works with an external monitor it's more likely an LCD problem. When you push the power button, noting comes up on the main LCD screen? not even the Acer logo etc.?
Did you set your video card to use an external monitor and disabled the primary LCD? If so, you need to go to display settings, advanced and go to ATI Display and make sure that the notebook monitor is on.
Reseat the memory to see if that does the trick, if not then take the battery out and only hook up the adaptor then turn it on and see if you get a picture, if not then your motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.
