Question about Smart Technologies SMART Board 580 (SB580)

1 Answer

Smartboard 580 draws scribbly lines

When I draw a letter, number or something along those lines the S.B. interprets the inputs as "waves" instead of lines. It makes the writing on the board nearly impossible to read? Besides checking my Dips, any other suggestions?

Dip checking first is good. then reorient the board. press and hold the 2 large buttons on the pen tray until the 9-point orientation appears. use one of the smart pens to orient. don't just press the dots, start about 6 inches from the dot and draw an arc to the dot and hold it at the dot for a second, then release and do the same for the other 8. if there is still a problem, the usb voltage might be low coming from the hub/computer. try another usb cable or a shorter one. there shouldn't be more than 4 usb cables coming from one hub and the usb cables cannot be longer than 16 feet.

Hi bmw530640.
Draw a line and check meanwhile whether or not the blue indicator light keeps burning on the top left of your tablet. If not, there's a bad contact between your pen and the tablet, probably due to a malfunctioning connection between the battery and the electronics of your pen. If so, ask for a new pen on the Trust company website.

GTCO Roll-Up Digitizer... lines appear wavy and jagged

The GTCO ROll-Up is not a high accuracy tablet,it is made for general use by Estimators.

Normal accuracy is somewhere between 15 and 22 mil.

Are there any breaks in the line, this would indicate an open on the grid.

Are you using a Tabletworks driver? Check the options and make sure the correct size tablet is in the driver.

Is it possible to remove features from a tablet?

I have the bamboo fun pen also. I am currently running Windows Vista 64bit home and have the same problem. I fixed mine by going into the control options > Tablet PC Settings > Other > Go to Pen and Input Devices > Settings (Under Pen Options) Then I clicked at the top Where it states "Enable press and hold for Right-clicking". I disabled that and my pen works with no holding for the right click. I can make scratch marks all day! Hope this helps you too.

Drawing problem in PS cs4

Go to your Brushes.

Click on the Brush Tip Shape tab.

Make sure the box is ticked that says 'Spacing' and set it as low as you can (1%) for the smoothest effect.

It is basically held on the tablet by an adhesive strip (Double Sided Tape) along it's top edge. I was a little worried too, when after spending some time in Photoshop, it lifted away as if stuck to my wrist.

This is not a fault and it will just lay back in it's recess, no harm done.

NEVER EVER glue it down, or when it comes time to replace it, you will not be able too. If it is peeling up and not laying flat, buy a replacement.

My cursor was smooth and easy to draw with, but now it's all shaky and won't draw well!

the latest drivers have 2 modes...

1 open the driver control panel
2 at the top of the window double click the intuos3 tablet that is giving you problems
3 choose standard mode instead of recognition data

... this is at least what worked for me. I hope it helps.
