yes it has a network card and was working fine before the new wirless router was hooked up. This pc is hard wired to the wireless router with a wire . I plan on using the wired connection on this pc with windows 98.

Does The Win98 PC have a network card? If so, are the proper drivers loaded for it? Are you planning on using wireless or wired connection?

In control panel, find the network applet and double click it. in the white box, locate TCP/IP(Internet Protocol) and select that, then click properties

Make sure you're set to DHCP which should, once you're physically connected to your router, obtain an IP address and DNS server addresses automatically

Assuming you are using a web browser to access the settings, please try a different browser. I hope it is that easy for you.

Otherwise I would suggest getting in touch with DLink and checking if there is a firmware update that addresses this.

Most likely you have damaged the D-Link router.
Connect a correct power adapter to the D-Link to see if it works properly, if it doesn't work then you need to purchasr a new wireless router.

Download and install the firmware update

Make sure to download the one for your specific model, and do the flash via a wired connection.
If no change, most likely a new router is in order

Hi there,
Since you have re-installed Xp try checking device manager. You should see network adapters there. If you do not see it, it means the software for it is not installed. You have to download the drivers from the computer manufacturer's website.

I cannot reset my d link dir615 wireless router, can anyone help

First, to reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.

Please note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure etc.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

This button is used to quickly set up wireless networks with the WiFi Protected Setup.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup is used to easily add devices to a network using a PIN or button press. Devices must support Wi-Fi Protected Setup in order to be configured by this method

more information is available in your manual and this forum

If this helped you then please help me and vote kindly, thank you.

Wireless Router

Hi Sleepey,

I'm sorry to inform you that computers running Windows 98 or earlier cannot share a wireless network created on a computer running XP or Vista - I've tried it. The only way to get internet access on your Win 98 PC is to wire it to the router with an ethernet cable.

Also, make sure that, in Control Panel, your network connection (probably called "1394 Connection") is set to automatically acquire an IP address - here's how:
1) Right-click 1394 Connection and select Properties.
2) On the General Tab, under "This connection uses the following items," select Internet Protocol and click Properties.
3) Verify that the radio button next to Obtain an IP address automatically is checked.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any futher assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H
