How to join my laptop to my television, I have no sound?

If your tv has a HDMI connection and your laptop has one as well you can connect both with a HDMI cable for video and sound. If your tv has a VGA connection you will need a separate audio cable. If your tv has a DVI connection you will also need a separate audio cable.

Try connecting the RCA cables to your TV's input jacks, make sure it says Audio input. Also, some TV's do not support audio in for VGA cables, if they do it's usually a 3.5mm jack labeled PC Audio or PC Speakers.

Why does the s video output on my dell latitude d600 not work?

You must have the correct drivers installed, and you must enable the output as a second monitor but to do that you must connect to the TV IN first. Right, well, IF your TV has a DB15 Female Plug on it then you CAN, connect it up and it will work, as a second "Monitor". OR If the laptop, has a "Composite Video" a Yellow RCA socket, then you can, connect to the TV's Composite IN. & it will be a second monitor. Otherwise you cannot, the VGA signal is NOT compatible with a TV's input. SOME cards have a connector that plugs into the DB15 and to the TV, but they are "Special". In saying that though you can "Micky Mouse" things together and get an output, but it real poor quality, and disappointing results, there are various posts on the net about doing this if you wish.
Remember DRIVERS, you also need the drivers installed & setup correctly in order for the hardware to work. As a tip, When connecting to a TV, always connect like this......First, plug all cables into TV's correct Video input(s). Connect up the Sound, plug all cables into laptop, turn TV ON. NOW, start the laptop, you should now soon see the an image.
NOTE: Some laptops & other devices, have HDMI out, sometimes, the AUDIO is not passed through, the HDMI cable, & the Audio must be run from Audio/Line OUT on laptop to AV IN on TV.Also some laptops have a socket that a multi-way 4/5/6/7 pins. A connector plugs into this, you then can connect to these connections, as you would normally.

Have you "muted" the sound on your computer?

Have you "muted" any of the outputs (MIDI, speaker) on your computer?

Have you "muted" the sound on the TV's built-in speakers?

Have you "muted" the sound on any external speakers that are connected to your TV?
Does your TV have _more_ than one HDMI port? Have you tried them all?

Got a friend with a TV with a HDMI port?
If so, connect your laptop via THEIR HDMI-cable to their TV.
Also, connedct your laptop via YOUR HDMI-cable to their TV.

Laptop to TV connection but no audio

what kinda connection did you made?? what kinda cord did you use....anyway...it usually works that way..you can get image on TV ..by setting the image card driver ...but the sound bust be connected separately ...if your TV has a input plug for sound...just take a proper cable ...and get signal from the green out of the computer and plug it into the input of the tv ...this way you will have sound comming from the TV speakers and access on the volume with its remote control ...but no matter what kinda plug u used for the connection with the tv ...you will not get eny thing more than image..
so...if your TV doesnt support sound plug in just attach some speachers ...

Which cables have you attached to your TV (the video and audio)?
Does the TV has left & right audio inputs (RCA connectors)?

When you attach a headphone to the laptop, the speakers on the laptop switch off and the sounds divert to the headphones. Try and connect a cable (stereo) from the headphone outlet on the laptop to the audio stereo inputs on the TV.

VGA and Audio cables connected to PC but no audio through TV

if your tv has vga input there should be a "line in" input very near it. VGA can only get its audio source through a "line in" connecting to the coaxial audio inputs will apply the music stream to a different video input on your tv. your tv has video 1, video 2, vga, and so on, but the vga cannot show video and then audio from the video/audio coaxial inputs. you will need something like a dual male tipped 3.5mm audio connector.

Good luck and pls rate this post
