Question about RCA M4208 MP3 Player

RCA Mp3 M4208GR-B is entirely unresponsive

I've had this player all of three months. it would freeze a lot, so i'd reset it and everything would be fine. except when it froze (as it turns out, for the final time), and i reset it, it shut off, and would not turn back on. it still won't now, nor will it connect to my computer, or do anything when on the wall charger. i can't reset it like normal (hold the menu down for 15 sec.) and there is no other reset button.

I am very disappointed in this product. I got this for Christmas and yes it would also freeze and I would also hit the reset button. I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem. It disappointments that I wasted so much time and effort on a product that is supposed to work and play music. I don't know what to do. The charger won't work. Nothing does. It will turn on but it will just be the initializing page. I have looked this product up and it seems many consumers have had this problem.

This Mp3 player is ridiculous! My husband and I each have one (purchased Dec 08) and by Aug 09 his froze never to turn on again. I thought maybe he got a lemon because mine was still just fine. As of Dec 09 mine is unresponsive as well. Pretty junky piece of equipment if you ask me. Sure it was only $50 some odd bucks at Walmart, but I would expect it to last much longer than a year - especially because I had barely even used mine. Ridiculous. My best suggestion... buy a different brand. Junky ole RCA needs to retire.

My rca m4208gr-b wont come on or take a charge

Try to reset it with these instructions:

Also, try to leave it plugged in overnight, then reset it the next day. It can take up to 8 hours to charge if it is completely drained.

How do i dowload music to my opal M4208GR

Manual for RCA Opal M4208GR:
http://www.voxxsupport.com/images/manuals/M4208GR/media/M4208GR_DOC_OM.pdf

This player has default setup MSC mode, seeing the player as a flash drive also called a removable disk.
MSC = Mass Storage Class
When seeing the player as a removable disk in Windows Explorer:
Drag and drop the song, with mp3 or wma format, into the Music folder on the player.
Note: some wma files may have DRM = Digital Rights Management. These files might be copied or transferred onto the player but cannot be started for playback.
Important: in MSC mode always safely remove hardware, the players' removable disk, at the bottom right corner of the task bar.

Transfers to the player can also be done with software like Windows Media Player 11, RCA easyRip or other software from music stores.
This can be done in MTP mode. MTP = Media Transfer Protocol.
How to switch to MTP mode, seeing the player as Media device:
In the players Menu go to Settings. Go to Protocol. Select MTP mode / switch from MSC mode to MTP mode.

Need to reinstall data on RCA Opal M4208GR-B

I did the same thing and reformatted mine too! If you go to www.rcaaudiovideo.com and put in your model number M4208GR and click on the update for the firmware update again then it will put everything back on the MP3 player. I know it sounds nuts but it worked for me and it wont do anymore harm then you have already done ;) Give it a try. Hope it works for you like it did me!

RCA M4208GR total frozen

Unplug the RCA from the computer. Uninstall all RCA software and then reinstall it. Then replug the RCA into the computer.

If that fails, try using the volume + instead of the menu button.
