How to put a drive belt on Technics SL-BD22 Turntable ?
I received a Technics SLBD22 turntable in the mail and when I opened the box, the rubber drive belt was not attached. I cannot see how it is threaded or installed and it does not have a manual. Can you please explain how it is installed. Can't tell by just looking at it I am afraid. Thank you so much in advance for your attention to my question. Bill Bender, Strongsville, Ohio

If you remove the rubber pad, you should be able to grasp the metal table. A gentle tap onto the center spindle while pulling up on the table should release the table. Place the new belt onto the underside of the table. Replace the table onto the spindle. Then feed the belt over the motor hub.
Remove the rubber mat from top of platter. This will expose two slots in the aluminum platter. Lift aluminum platter straight up and off. On the underneath side of platter is a surface that the belt will fit on, place the belt there(approximately half the diameter of the platter)
With the belt mounted on platter, reinstall platter to turntable. Slowly rotate platter until you can see the drive motor pulley, stop.
Carefully reach down and pull belt over drive motor pulley (make sure not to twist belt) Rotate platter to ensure smooth operation and belt tracking. VOLA! Reinstall rubber mat and vynil on!!
It could be the wrong drive belt if the turntable is of the old fashioned type and does'nt have the direct drive. If the 33/45 switch isn't working properly then its a possibility its the drive belt tension on the turntable.
1) Remove the platter - just lift up
2) Underneath the platter, you'll see a small lip section
3) Wrap the belt around this lip
4) Put platter back on turntable
5) Rotate platter until you see the motor shaft through the holes on the platter - a brass round looking piece
6) Pinch the belt around the motor shaft.
7) That's it.
Ok.Thats a difficult part to explain on a pick up.So listen up and give attention.Take off the plate of your driver and adjust the belt from the down side of your plate where there is a circle.put it in there and grab the belt to one side and adjust it to the "turner"then put your vinyl and play it.
