Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Well I open the tray and insert ANY disc and it will not read you hear a slight spin up sound and then it reads open tray as if i never inserted a disc at all. After opening and closing the tray about 30-40 times sometimes it wil finally pick it up and play fine but that is a VERY rare occasion. If it makes a difference it started this after an update from xbox live. About the 3rd update ever recieved. please any help would be appreciated. I would just send it back to microsoft but i'm not sure the warranty is still valid seeing as i bought it from the orginal owner and not retail.
You have modded your xbox 360 so the microsoft can corrupt your firmware by giving you time about a few days please flash your console in the same shop where you have modded and here after dont update anything from xbox live many shops can have pirated updates you can use that

Well, a good start is to clean the drive. Any cd/dvd lens cleaner will work. If you are still having problems, there are other places that will repair them fairly cheap if they are out of warranty. From my understanding, the warranty is non-transfereable. The person you bought it from still is covered though. As far as info about updates messing up the dvd drive, there was an issue with the fall update, but that was a few years back. Have you tried to re-update your xbox?

Tips for a great answer:
Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the
bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or
image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your
console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by
the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft,
clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.
· Note Use ONLY water to
clean the disc.
Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your
console and see if the disc plays.
