Question about Gateway MT6707 Notebook PC
Computer would not power up, so I checked the power plug and no result.
I then put the batter in and it booted up. I took the battery out and was able to boot it up, until I picked up the computer and it dies instantly.
When is was working I noticed that the fan was not operating.
So... is there a problem with the AC power connector on the computer... and have you heard of the fan not working?
Over time will the fan quit funntioning if too much heat builds up?
Is there a part of the circuit that will "kill" the fan if there is a problem with the AC power?
Fans can die without any reason that's possible and because of that your laptop is shutting down due to overheating because the processor isn't being cooled so you may need a new fan (but test the pin if there is any voltage there). it could be the motherboard not giving any power to it.
you may also have a problem with the DC socket not charging your laptop thats easy to test, plug the charger into the laptop with the battery and without switching it see if there is an amber light that shows the ac is fine.
