Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

8 Answers

Recently found that my previously functional Sharp DV-600 DVD player at first would not work. Then just sound, but no video. I bought it used so I have no user guide. What can I do to correct this problem?

Yes, I did touch the red, white and yellow connectors. I disconnected them and then checked for proper connections. That is when I got sound only! This DVD player worked fine on a previous TV set, but now I have different (old, used) one. I looked all over the web to find a user guide without success. I could sure ue one. Evidently, Sharp discontinued these user guides due age of product

about 9 years old!). What TV station are you supposed to have TV on while using this? I have tried all from 01-50. All of them will get sound only!

  • corv60 Mar 02, 2009

Tried pressing stop button with no success.

Does anyone else have any ideas as to why I am getting no video on my Sharp DV-600 DVD player?

  • corv60 Mar 02, 2009

Remember, I bought this second hand. It did not come with any software. As for the procedures you are referring to, I am lost!

Have yet to get answer to no video on my Sharp DVD player that solves the problem! Can anyone else please help?

  • corv60 Mar 03, 2009

Am not presently at home where DVD player is located, but I am confiedent that this guide, which I was not able to locate on the web, will solve my problem, so I am accpeting this solution with my thanks to you!

Hi, nice to know that you hare happy with a support given. Surely the users manual will help.
However I wanted to suggest double checking the cables at the back, unplugging and plugging them back, and eventually testing alternative video cables.
The cables and connectors are the most common cause for problem of this kind.
Check also your TV settings following the manual.

Hi,
If checking the cables did not work then this is the lens issue so get it checked by a professional.

  • Check power and to see if the disc is inserted right side up.
  • Clean the disc if dirty with a soft lint free cloth. Do not wipe in a circular motion. Your may also cleaner with a disc cleaner, available at your local dealer.
  • If there is condensation in the unit, turn it on for 1-2 hours before using the unit.

    • 4:3 PS – (Pan & Scan mode) When wide screen
video material is played, this mode clips the right and left sides of
the image so that it can be viewed on a conventional TV screen.

Some wide screen DVDs that do not permit Pan & Scan mode playback
are automatically played in the letterbox mode (black bands top and
      bottom).

    • 4:3 LB (letterbox mode) When wide screen video material is
played in this mode on a conventional TV screen, black bands appear at
the top and bottom of the screen.

    • 16:9 (Wide screen TV) this is the correct mode for playing wide screen videos on a wide screen TV.

You must also set the screen mode on your wide screen TV to “Full”.

3 or 4 are good channels for analog reception.

I would try using a coaxial(cable) for transfer. the input block seems to be malfunctioning.

Check your connection cables make sure they are not loose. If you have another set of cables you know are working try those and see if there is a difference.

You could reinstall the software, unless you reformatted, the files should still be on your machine. If you deleted them with one of those Reg Cleaners, just re install, try this first. Start, control panel, system, devive manager, hardware. Locate drives press the plus sign to expand, and highlight the DvD driven click uninstall. Then reboot, it will find the hardware and reinstall the software for it automaticlly, you should be good to go at that point, unless the files were removed from the machine, but try this first, Good luck

I think your Sharp dvd player shifted to progressive scan mode and requires to set back in interlace scanning mode.
Please press STOP button for 5-6 seconds to cancel progressive scan mode.

    OK,
DVD player has Yellow (video) Red and White (audio) output RCA jacks as rear.
Please locate same combination of Input (1 or 2 or 3 etc) at rear of your TV and hook RCA cable yellow-red-white between TV and Player. Please double check yellow to yellow, red to red and white to white between TV and Player.
Now turn your TV and player On and select TV Input ( where you hooked DVD Player) and put disc in dvd player press playback.

Trouble recording to DVD - connections are not done right - Sharp DVD-RW340

I had to run from the RCA outs of my DVR into the inputs that are on the front right of the RW340...behind the little door.  Now I can easily record from live cable or from my Comcast DVR recorder.  Couldn't get it to work from the backside inputs.
Mine is just the DV RW340 (no U).  And yes, the manual is brutal.  We had to call tech support to find what disc will actually work in the darned thing.
Now my big problem is finding more 4x DV-R disks. Shoulda bought more when Comp USA was clearing them out a few years ago!

I have had great success with Dynex Model: DX-DVD-R25 discs.  And they play equally nicely on my Toshiba DVD player in the livingroom.   I have also given several away to people after I had transfered home videos to DVD and those people all had good results playing the discs that I made on my lowly Sharp Dv-RW340.

Sharp DVD disc error

I've found out that the recording speed is important for this model. The speed on the dvd must be 4x or less. If your using an 8x or 16x it will not work. Hope this helps.

Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for the 4 digit code that goes into the remote to make it compatible. I think it's in the operators manual, which I no longer have. If you can find this number I would really appreciate it.

Disc error

I have this same problem so I called Sharp.  This model is  a little older.  When you buy the disks there is a number with an X after it.  If you buy the - R disk the number has to be 4X or less,  for the -RW it has to 2X or less.  Apparently they can still be bought at Office Depot or online.
