How do i know if the laptop i just bought has the software on it?

You need to reinstall the webcam software. that is provided to you by acer.

Go to Add and remove programs/ Program and features and then select the webcam software and then remove it.

After removing that. restart the computer and then Reinstall the webcam software from the cd that acer gave you.

This will resolve the problem

hi when you boot your system go to the cmos settings a blue screen will show that is either you press f2 or f12 as your system requires, go to the on board settings i am sure the web cam on board is disables from this settings, enable it save the settings and exit. meanwhile on your windows xp make sure you have the webcam software installed this should work.

Go to My Computer properties. And choose Devices->Device manger. You can see there your webcam. Or if you see any ? or ! character before the camera you should install cam driver. If anything let me know I will help.

If your driver installed correctly then open my computer then you can see camera wizard there.
Then open and then you can take picture and save it anywhere in computer.
You can also use software but for that you need to download that software from camera manufacturer web sites if it is in built cam in laptop then you can download that software from laptop manufacturer sites.

have you tried windows update? don't use high priority updates, click on custom and then optional hardware, then optional software, add ALL listed, and it's possibly the solution

Drivers may be causing issue with pre-existing software. Uninstall drivers and software for webcam, then reinstall.
Update wireless driver.

Try using an updated copy of the software direct from Phillips HERE.

webcam drivers are included by xp from defaulkt, you might have to re-enable it in the bios (f2 whilst starting up)

Try using wxcam, xawtv, camorama or cheese
