I bought an ipod from a kid and its locked dont know anything about these darn things

Hi,

To unlock it, you'll need to restore it.

First, you'll need to download iTunes onto your computer (if you haven't already). This will let you put music and other files onto the iPod.
you can download it here by typing in your email address and then clicking "download".

Once you've downloaded and installed iTunes, open it up.
Then, plug your iPod into the computer.

After a minute, your iPod should show up along the left hand side of iTunes, under "Devices" (like "zpod" in this screenshot)

4472664.png

Click on the name of the iPod (in this case, you'd click on "zpod").
This will take you to a new screen that tells you information about the iPod.
Click on the Summary tab (along the top), then click "Restore".

This will clear off all the data on the iPod, including the passcode that has it locked, and basically make the iPod like new, so you will be able to put whatever music, etc. you'd like onto the iPod.

Hello, You would purchase them from the iTunes Store or import them from a CD or locally from your computer into your iTunes Library, then sync your library with your iPod.

Downloaded music onto ipod, but nothing now showing on ipod screen, no folders, no music, did i unplug ipod to quick, how do i get them back

You must be using iTunes to put Music on your iPod. If you are not, the files will not show up on it. If this isn't the problem then try restoring your iPod. Plug in your iPod, open iTunes, and click the iPod Nano icon, then click restore. This will take a few minutes.
Sorry that's all I got for you, if none of this works than I would say your problem is very unique.

I have a sylvania mp3 player 4gb and it wont let me put music on it. when i plug in the usb cord it doesnt even show up on the computer...help!!!

First, try another USB cable. Cheap players often come with broken cords. If it still won't work send it back, it's broken.

to fix this you will need to erase all the data on the ipod(s).

plug the ipod into the computer using the included usb cable. open itunes (if it doesn't open automatically) in the column on the left side of the window there is an icon showing your ipod's name. click on it then click on the button that says "restore ipod"

WARNING: this will erase all the content on the ipod (you can put it back on later)

it will ask you to confirm. hit ok and keep your ipod plugged in as it restores it to it original state. pick the language you prefer and then load your music back on the device

Hi,
First, you should use itunes for you iPod. I know that there are other programs that can let you load music on it, but you should use iTune, Really.

1. You should first download iTunes. It is free.

2. Next. Load your music into iTunes. Do all of this BEFORE you plug your iPod into the computer.

3. Connect your iPod to the computer. Use a fast USB port. These are usually located on the back of the computer.

4. Your iPod should appear in the iTune pane on the left side. You should be able to see a set of 'tabs' that you can click. The first one is about your iPod.

5. At this point, you can click on the music tab to tell the computer to load what to load into the iPod. Click 'sync' to load your music.

6. When the syncing is complete, you will see that notice above in iTunes. Click the arrow next to the iPod picture in the iTunes pane to discharge the iPod. The iPod picture will disappear. Make sure that you also safely release the iPod in the task bar at the bottom of the computer. You will need to click on a green icon that looks like a plug and select 'safely remove storage device'. Wait until the computer tells you it is safe to disconnect it. Then disconnect.

Hope that helps.
