Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

PC won't connect to internet and cursor has disappeared.

When trying to uninstall McAfee, afterwards, my computer would not connect to the internet, then my cursor disappeared and the computer made a ding sound.

I'll reserve my opinion about McAfee and simply provide you some help with the complete removal...

This page will give you some additional info about removing all instances of the program. Scroll down to Removing McAfee Automatically to find a link to a utility that will strip all instances of McAfee products from your machine.

McAfee may have altered the firewall or the TCP/IP settings on your machine thus throwing off your internet connection so let's start by making sure it's all gone and if you still have a problem after teh removal post back here and we'll try a couple of other things.

Try booting in safe mode and "Roll back" using system restore to the point when your pc last worked ok.

My pavilion dv7 17" won't allow me to install mcafee anti virus


Before you can do anything, uninstall norton antivirus, go to control panel and click on it, a list of items will come up, when norton shows select remove and wait for the program to uninstall, and restart the computer, go back in and remove norton live update and any other program pertaining to norton. If you have windows 7 go to my computer and "click" on top select uninstall, and follow the outline above. Now you should be able to install the program.

Hi, i've recently bought an acer aspire one running windows 7. it came with a trial version of McAfee. I uninstalled this and put on Norton 360 which i bought at the same time. Now the pc won't boot up so...


McAfee?? this product you need to check how to totally remove it from your netbook because it will block most of the other anti virus. Consider as business strategy, so that end user just use this anti virus, rather than other.

McAfee Integrated Security Platform Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.


Not only Uninstalling & Reinstalling the McAfee Program would help, because usually you'd get this Error During the Installation. The Reason for this Error is because of the Windows Update (McAfee is Disigned on the Windows Platform).

Things that Needs to be checked here are:

1. Update Windows:
- Open IE (Internet Explorer).
- Click on the TOOLS or SAFETY (If the IE version is IE v.8).
- Select Windows Update.
- Ensure that All Windows Updates are Installed on the Computer.


2. Installing MSXML 3 & 4:
- Check if you already have MSXMLs installed on your Computer by going to START >> CONTROL PANEL >> ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS or PROGRAMS >> PROGRAMS & FEATURES (In Case of Windows Vista/7).
- If you find MSXMLs, Uninstall them & then Restart the Computer.
- Download and Reinstall MSXML version 3 (MSXML3.msi only).
- Restart the computer.
- Download and install MSXML version 4 (MSXML.msi only).
- Restart the computer.
- Run McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe) from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
- Reinstall the McAfee Program.

You should get Revo uninstaller. It's free and through. Check on that McAfee and I'm not sure about Zone Alarm, but Ihear two AV programs will conflict with each other. Good luck.

My Mcafee anti-virus is about to finish,how do I install Advast free,do I download advast then uninstall/delete Mcafee then install advast free with Reg key. Thanx in advance !!!


Multiple anti-virus programs on a computer conflict with each other, as well as installation may fail when trying to install one Anti-virus program when another one is still on the computer.

Download Avast
Disable your internet connection, or unplug the ethernet cable
Uninstall McAfee
Install Avast
Hook your internet back up
Use your reg key and update Avast.

You just don't want an unsecured computer with an active internet connection even during the short period of time between uninstalling the old one and installing the new one

Yes you do need to uninstall .Its beta and still buggy .Follow these instructions

1. Click the Start Button and select Control Panel.
2. Select Add or Remove Programs.
3. Find and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 from the list of available applications.
4. Click the Remove button.
5. Restart your system.
Removing IE8 on Windows Vista::
1. Click the Start Button and select Control Panel.
2. Select Programs (Programs and Features if you’re using the Classic View).
3. Select View installed updates (it will be under the Tasks column if you’re using the Classic View).
4. Find and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 from the list of available updates.
5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
6. Restart your system.
