Are you connecting to your own wireless network or a local person's network? It is possible to block people out of routers using MAC Address Filtering. Allow me to explain this.

Every network adapter has a physical address or "MAC Address". This address is unique to each device and if you have a wired adapter, it will have a MAC address different from the wireless.

If you were connecting to another person's network, they may have enabled this feature to lock you out. It shows as an "open" network and will allow connection but will not allow local traffic through this connection unless you're on the list.

The first thing to check is that you are connecting to your own network. If you are located close to other people with their own wireless networks, you need to make sure you're connecting to your wireless network's SSID (the name of the router). Please clarify your connection and verify you are connecting to your network.

Do you have encryption enabled on your wireless router? There is a strong possibility that you have entered the wrong encryption key (network key) while connecting to the wireless network.

I've had a Netgear WG111 usb wireless adaptor since 2007. It has suddenly stopped working. My computer cannot connect to the internet/ modem - it says no adaptor detected. Help. Can the adaptor just die?

yes they can and do I personally have had 3 or more just die, especially anything USB, they are real bad for just stopping, It is usually the USB interface and not the actual device that fails. with USB, it is usually a power spike" that kills them.

ADAPTER not working

Check the distance bet computer and the Router.
Donot keep your router near television, microwaveoven or any radio active devces, it may reduce the performance.
Check the Antena terminals for any loose connections.
If possible check your wireless signal strength with another Laptop, to diagnose the router is working fine.
If everything seems to be fine, it maybe the issue with the Adapter.

Low connection speed

I understand that you are getting low wireless speed through the adapter. I would suggest you to upgrade the drivers for the adapter. If the issue persists, then please change the channel on the wireless router.

Hope this helps.

My netgear adapter sometimes cant find my 2 wire dsl signal

What signal strength do you get when you connect?

Is the router buried underneath or inside a cabinet or anything?

Consider relocating the router away from other objects (particularly metal items), or on the outside of any type of cabinet.

NETGEAR WG111T 108 MBPS WIRELESS USB 2.0 ADAPTER stopped working

What are you trying to connect your USB wireless device to?
Is it to a wireless hot spot?
or to a Wireless Access Point/Router?
When you find a connection, what is the signal strength?
I assume you have configured your Access Point correctly as well as making it secure. You should connect a computer to the Access Point using a network 10BaseT cable to check the Access Point configuration, especially the wireless configuration.

If you are trying to connect to a wireless Access Point and you have a weak signal, move your computer closer to the Access Point or move the Access Point to a better and higher location to give you a better wireless coverage. Note, walls can affect the wireless signals between the Access Point and the wireless network card and wireless USB device, especially reinforced concrete walls.
