Check to make sure that the monitor is connected correctly to the computer. If it is the problem is the graphics card and it will need tyo be replaced.

I suspect that the screen is actually perfectly fine. The problem is most likely the computer not starting up properly or the video card not giving signal, you can easily test this with another monitor, almost any monitor. if you get picture with another monitor then the problem is indeed with your current monitor but test it again with the monitor and see if the problem is gone.

If you don't get any picture with any screen. Then your computer is not starting up.

If your computer is covered by warranty I would suggest instead to contact your dealer for warranty repair service. if your are outside of warranty you can safely open the case and disconnect all ram modules. (ofcourse unplug all cables)

with no ram in the computer plug in the power and try starting up, it shouldn't and it should beep.

turn it off and unplug again

Then you could plug back in the other ram module and try starting up. again

let me know if you have picture at this point, and if you want to continue you could accept my solution so we can communicate better.

I would say that it doesn't see any signal coming from the computer. Check your output. Check the video drivers. Try another video display.

Monitor displaying 'check signal cable'

Make sure the refresh rate is set at 60 hertz before using the new monitor also check the display settings to see if they are set to use the external display also. Yours may automaticaly do this and your partners may not. If this does not help please let me know the type of notebook and monitor. Good Luck!

Flatron LG monitor safe mode

Your monitor goes to Power Saving Mode when the signal it is receiving is not correct. In all probability this is not a problem of the monitor itself, rather you should check the connections and the computer the monitor it's connected to. For example you could try a different RGB cable and try it in a different computer.
