Generally If System Is Unused For A Certain Amount Of Time Time It Will Go Into Was Is Called Sleep Mode. Also Make Sure You Locate Your Fan And Make Sure Its Able To Pull In Air For Ventilation Which Keeps The System Cooled Down And Wont Allow System To Get Hot
Hello, When the power status light flashes red after using the PS3 system for 3 or more minutes and shuts off, the PS3 system has possibly over heated. This may be caused by poor ventilation or the vents may be blocked. The blinking red light is infact a general hardware failure message. In this particular case, his hardware failure is with the blu-ray drive, that's why the system does not shut down until the drive is accessed. if the system is overheating, it will tell you so in the top right hand corner. It will say the system has overheated and is shutting down to avoid further damage. Provide a proper vent for the system... Hope this will help...
Your most likely cause is the CPU or GPU is damaged due to over heating. This is usually not repairable. Red flashing lights are usually a bad hard ware warning. Try looking up flashing or fault codes for PS3 light patterns and check if any match up to the flashes you get. Another thing to indicate hardware failure is if it boots up at all. I'd like to give you better news but this is more then likely more an autopsy report then anything helpful.
Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.
Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)
If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.
hi , i hate to say this but you need to do this asap. Call the playstation support line and send it in. your ps3 is experience a corrupted hard drive. This will only get worse and will eventually shut down for good.
not a solution but a possible answer it is possibly the ylod (yellow light of death) it seems a few people are getting this and my ps3 has broke aswell even sony dont know what is wrong with it. but your problem sounds like the ylod
Alot of the playstation 3 systems are having problems overheating. this would be the cause of the system shutting off. not to much u can do unless u know how to replace the fan or if you bought the warranty. other then that you would have to take it to get fixed or buy a new one. hope this helps sorry if it dont
You both sound like you have an over heating issue. Mostly if the fan does not stay on. The PS3 always has a fan on, just the first setting is very quiet. Do you feel any air being blown out of the back (where the power cord goes in)?
