SOURCE: Leaking Whirlpool refrigerator

I had a problem with water accumulating on the first shelf and and underneath the drawers in the bottom of the refrigerator. I traced it back to the overflow cup that is located inside the refrigerator in the middle of the top. NOT inside the freezer, but rather in the the refrigerator portion.

Unload the top shelf and place some paper towels near the back of the shelf to catch about a 1/2 cup of water. Gently grab the tab on the overflow cup and slide it towards you. I am willing to bet there is a large plug of mold inside the pipe on the cup that has been blocking the drainage.

Now is a good time to clean up the water under the drawers in the bottom of the fridge and while you are at it, clean the shelves.

SOURCE: I can't get the crispers and shelf back in after cleaning.

The bar goes into slots right above the drawers and under the shelf above the drawers. It's not obvious to see at first. It's at the very front of the shelf. You have to slide one end of the bar in first then the other side. The bar sticks out a little on each side so it can sit in the groves on the side walls of the fridge. For the longest we tried to put it underneath the drawers even though we knew it wasn't right. Hope this helps. The Whirlpool website can give you a parts manual if you enter the model number.

We run across customers that have this trouble from time to time with there refrigerators. The first question i usually ask if the have changed the temperature setting recently. If not try a over night defrost, open the doors and unplug the refrigerator over night. That seems to take care of the problem. Its also a good time to give it a good cleaning. Don't forget to clean your condenser coils to.

Water leaking onto the floor and down the back of refrigerator to the bottom under the vegetable crispers?

You have a problem with the auto defrost drain system.Carefully take off the cover by the light and control and see if you can clean out the drain. Sometimes you can get to it from behind the refrig. but that means you have to move the refrig out from the wall.Hope you find this helpful.

If the bar is long , it probably fits inside the crisper cover which has a U shaped slot for the bar to slide into .

Hello. Did you try running the water through the door until it becomes room temperature? This will completely flush out the water resouvior in the fresh food section. When it comes to the ice tasting bad, a lot of the time it is from something that has gone bad in or behind the crisper drawers. Take the drawers out and check. You may be thinking how can something in the frig compartment effect the ice? The frig is cooled by the freezer by a opening in the top and bottom of the center divider. Hopefully this helps.
