Gps not working - Garmin GPS 12XL GPS Receiver

Does the manual say you have a GPS chip on that tablet? Is the GPS enabled in Settings? Is the GPS application stated to work with your tablet? Without more details, it is not possible to help you out much further.

You have to be sure that the radio really support gps it doesn't work on every boss radio it could have the icon of GPS but still doesnt need to be gps supported if it have gps then you have to be sure that you connect everything correctly

This model has two versions, one with the GPS as an external piece, and one with the GPS mounted internally. If the location of the internal mounted GPS cannot get a clear shot at the satellites overhead, it will tell you it cannot get a GPS fix. If it says it is disconnected, you may have a problem with the internal GPS. There are external GPS pucks available for this unit. Here is a helpful website.

If your gps does not come on anymore, there seem to be a problem somewhere, which most likely is from either the battery, the charger or both. Try another battery in the gps to see if it will work, if it works, then it means you will need to get another battery for your gps.
Test the charger also on another gps to see if it will charge, if it charges it, then it is okay, but if it does not, then it is bad and need to be replaced. Either way, you have detected the cause and solved the problem.
But if your gps normally comes on and does not read map or signal, then you need to reset your gps. Or update to the latest version of software for your GPS.

Check the connectors and wiring between the GPS module and sonar unit. If it's an internal GPS module yo may have knocked loose a connector internally.

tap on "GPS Status" (second page of GPS software) and be sure that the box is checked in the upper left hand corner. In the same screen, be sure com 8 and 9600 (baud rate) is shown.

I have a Samsung Omnia. If you go into settings you can turn on AGPS (assisted GPS) and download some addition software that helps gps. GPS is automatic but you can turn it off or allow windows mobile to manage it which is advisable. You cannot automatically see the GPS but you can buy or get third party software to see when GPS is working.

GPS gate works to turn gps on/off manual but this is just one software.

Try turning it off and turning it back on while it is still plugged in and see if that works.

I finally got my HTC TyTN II yesterday from Dubai.
First thing I wanted to test was the GPS. It did not work with: TomTom6, Google Maps, Yahoo Go.)
I was surfing around to find something that would help me out and have noticed that many people have the same problem.
Many people (Like me) did not know howe to setup the GPS.
Many people are saying: "You have to put it your GPS settings in Com 4 and the Baud rate on 4800 and it should work.
Well mine didn't work with those settings. (Along with other people.)
I had played with the External GPS option (Don't do this cause setting something wrongm ay cost you a HARD-Reset.)
I Was lucky that mine worked again after a SOFT-Reset. So watch out!

Why am I doing this?
People buy this phone to make use of it. When something does not work why buy the phone then :S

Here is my story of how I did get my GPS to work:
1. Download the GPS addresses by using QuickGPS (Start -> Programs -> QuickGPS).
(This will download info of what your GPS Reciver needs to connect to the satalites.)
2. Download a free (Well half free, You can also buy this application it will give you some extra options, but we don't need those extra options.) tool named: GPS Test. (This program will scan all your mobiles com ports and Baud rates, To see what your real GPS settings are.
In my case they were: COM PORT: 4 - Baud Rate: 9600 (Notice it ain't 4800. Usaly it shows your settings with a pop-up.
When It doesn't Go to "Menu -> GPS Settings", There it will show you you're GPS settings.)
3. Install TomTom 64. Download your free map.
5. Go to the GPS settings.
(Set-up: Other NMEA GPS-Reciver -> GPS-Baud Rate -> Com. (Select the Baud rate + Com port from what the GPS Test did show you.)
6. Now wait.

Danny, First I would try resetting GPS. It has been a while since I've worked on the 700's but there is a next to the GPS Status button that shows something along the lines of resetting GPS. It will then tell you that it will take 5 min. to re-aquire a signal. Try that first. If that fails, restart your unit and at the user menu push the "-" (zoom out) key AND the "repeat" button on top. Your in the "secret" menu now. Select Reset GPS user data (maybe it doesn't say that verbatim but work with me here). Press yes to confirm then check your gps status again.
