Game freezes up on 360xbox

If your game is freezing, it is most likely due to your game being scratched or otherwise damaged. Sometimes, a game can become damaged without you even realizing it. There are two ways to fix this.

1) (Obviously) Buy a new game.

If you don't want to go through the hassle, and would rather just get a fresh copy, go do it. Also, if your hard drive is relatively small or nearly full, I would recommend this.

2) Install the game to your hard drive.
The Xbox 360 has a feature that allows you to install a game to your hard drive. By doing this, the Xbox will run everything from your hard drive, which will make a scratched game no problem. You still need to have the game in the Xbox for it to start, however (anti-piracy measure). Installing is easy. Go to the dashboard, and scroll to where you would normally start the game from. But instead of pressing A to play the game, press Y on it and you should have the option to install it.

Note 1: If you can't install the game fully because it is so badly damaged, borrowing a friends or renting a copy and installing that one will work fine also. As long as you can start the game, you will be fine and freeze-ups will go away.

Note 2: If you have installed the game and it's still freezing, the problem is your hard drive. Some hard drives don't play well with some games, for an odd reason. To test this, try saving and loading the game from a USB flash drive. If it doesn't freeze, just continue to play on the flash drive. You can transfer all of data for the game onto your flash drive from the memory options in system settings.

5 minutes playing online keep giving me error message that the disk is dirty. i know it's not i played the same cd to another xbox console it's fine. what should i do or what's the problem...

Hi chrisastig
try to save the game you are playing to the hard drive so as to play from hard drive & not from the disk ! this is assuming you have enuf room on ur hard drive to copy the game to ??
You will still need to put the game in (even when playing from hard drive) but i find if its a game you play a lot its well worth doing as it saves on the disc drive/disc spinning whilst playing :-)
saves on overall usage of the xbox too !
If its ok reading the disc for the first 5 mins of usage it should be ok to copy to the hard drive to play from.
If there is a fault with the disc itself it will tell you when you try to copy it to the hard drive & if this is the case (& its a game you like/play a lot??) then try to borrow a copy just to put on ur hard drive only & use ur damaged disc as the 'required even if playing from hard drive' notification to the xbox that you do own the original copy !
Damaged discs are usually ok for 'playing from hard drive' as the information the xbox requires is very little but enuf for it to allow you to play the game (from the hard drive)
You will find it a lot quieter whilst playing anyway ! i think so !

hope this helps :-)

please remember thumbs up :-)

p.s. refer to ur xbox user manual or drop me a mail if you have any problems doing any of the above ??

My XBOX 360 is consistently freezing up and won't play

One thing to certainly check, is that the Xbox is broken, not just the game. Try playing all of your games, and keep in mind which ones weren’t working properly. Then, take those over to a friend’s house, and try playing them on his/her console. If they seem to work on one, but not the other, there may well be something faulty about your Xbox.
It is entirely possible that a scratched or dirty disc could be causing all these problems. So what to do about it? Well, the simple thing would be just clean off the disc. Wipe it down with a soft cloth, and give it another try. Another idea would be to rip the game to your Xbox 360’s hard drive. There is more than plenty space on it, and it should play more smoothly from there.

My xbox loads games but then it freezes on games that run on a disc

Hi, im not sure but are you playing the games of the xbox 360 Hard Drive?

If orignal discs seem to freeze in the drive then this could be a problem with the disc drive. You may want to get it replaced or if under warrenty get it replaced...

if the problem happens with games that run from your hard drive as well this could be a hardware problem.

Xbox 360 problem with scratching disks

If your xbox is making that ring around your disc chances are you are playing your xbox standing up, if you lay the xbox down on its side this may fix the problem atleast it did for me. And as for the the midnight club freezing all the time it is still doing this on my xbox, copy the game to hard drive, and it should deffinitly limit the game from freezing, it worked for me.

Game freezes after playing for a while but no red rings appear

Games freeze for two reasons. Overheating and the hard drive locking up. If you have your games installed, you most likely eliminated the overheating problem.

Since you are not getting Red Ring, it probably isn't overheating. That leaves the hard drive. Turn of the console and unplug it. Remove the hard drive. Now is a good time to clean any dust from the connectors or vents. Reattach and play. Some games like Fable 2, Fallout 3, and others are more prone to freezing when accessing the hard drive that others. If it is freezing more times than not, you have an issue with the hard drive.

Right, lay your Xbox360 down dont keep it upright, try installing COD4 to your hard drive then once installed go into you game library and click on cod4 and click play from hard drive ( and if you dont know how to install games to the hard drive make sure your xbox isnt on automatic start when a disc is inserted and put the disc in and when it says play cod4 press Y and then click install to hard drive) hope this helped....
