Try that vista driver. I tried some vista drivers for some devices and they worked for me :)
The actual program that came with the CD won't work on your Vista computer. This is the link to the drivers and CanoScan Toolbox. Click on the Drivers & Downloads on this page then choose Vista as your OS
I'm not sure if this will work on the lide 20. I have an lide 35, and there are no 64 bit drivers for it. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the lide 60, told the computer to manually find the lide 60 drivers for my scanner, and installed the canoscan toolbox for vista 64 bit. Works like a champ.
Canoscan FB630U - No need to buy 'VueScan' - that does work but $70 is a long way towards a new scanner.
I've had no problems using the XP canon driver (v. 220.127.116.11) under vista (just download, decompress then 'Update driver' in the device manager and point it to the decompressed files).
This is a TWAIN driver not the newer WIA type driver which means that the scanner will not appear in Windows Fax and Scan or in the the Scanners and Cameras group of control panel. Photoshop / Paintshop pro etc are perfectly happy to use TWAIN scanners, however!
Tom, your solution is incorrect. I have just got my Canoscan working fine with Vista, simply using Canon's official XP drivers and unpacking them in XP compatibility mode. Is working fine with just a bit of experimentation. (You need the Canon toolbox software too, all of which is available from canon.com)
