This seems like a hard drive damage. the DV6000 laptop is equiped with a SATA drive and it could have locked up. I would suggest changing the hard drive

You usually get that message when the hard drive has crashed.

Try removing the hard drive from the unit, then reseat it back into place.

Hopefully it was just dislodged a little bit.

Let me know what happens.

You can access the hard drive by removing two screws from the bottom of the laptop.

    Should look like this:

    DV6000 Bottom

Hard drive is on the right bottom, there is a panel that covers it. Just unscrew it and you'll see the hard drive.

It's hard to say over the internet. I'd suggest taking it into a local repair shop, stay away from Geek Squad.

Or if you can find someone honest from Craigslist you'll save a bunch of money.

Try to find someone who has experience repairing laptops.

OR if you want to go the DIY approach you can get either a usb enclosure for the hard drive and then hook it up to another pc to see if the drive is recognized. OR if you have another laptop that uses the same type of hard drive (SATA) you can see if the bios detects it.

If it does, then the problem is the motherboard.

    Hope this helps.
