3 light x-lines across TV screen

I just bought and installed a 47 inch new ProScan TV. About 1/3 the way down 3 light lines of x"s are barely visible across the screen. I sent in my warranty card but don't know who to call for assistance. Thanks for your help !

From elsewhere on the web:

"Proscan used to be the RCA high-end trademark; RCA (at least the TVs) was purchased by Thomson; they leased the proscan name to a Korean outfit that has the TVs made in China.
I've never owned a Proscan (post RCA)... but the internet buzz is that they are of inferior quality and that it's virtually impossible to get support in the USA. I would qualify that: Costco is selling Proscan TVs; they extend the warranty by one year (to two years); and if you have a problem, ya got Costco behind you. So I guess unless you buy one at Costco, you should pass"

Perhaps you need to contact the entity at which you purchased the television.

Proscan 42 in tv....has a very thin line about 4 inches from the bottom of the screen. we had the tv for almost 3 years. this just started last night. can it be fixed?

Anything can be fixed, short of it being totally destroyed. The question is can it be fixed in a cost-effective manner? Today's TV sets are manufactured for a three-year lifespan....regardless of what the manufacturers say. They are made with minimal-tolerance components, and are designed to fail in the 2-4 year range. Most make that, some don't even get out of warranty. The manufacturers take the risk because it is more profitable for them to make some warranty repairs in order to get the repeat buyer in 3 years instead of 10. If you got 3 years out of you set you did well. Some try to repair the sets themselves; some are successful, many are not. These devices are delicate and often in the process of fixing one thing, something else gets broken. You can try for repairs, but you are most likely better off buying new, and consider this when buying.....look for features you want NOW and not in the future, since by the time those feature are needed, you will be once again in the market for a new set. One additional piece of advice; to help these new devices last longer, buy and install a UPS to protect them from voltage variations and power surges. Surge suppressors alone can help, but they don't respond to voltage variations that often occur in electrical service. These are often the killers on these devices.

A reboot or factory reset if possible will not help with that issue---bad connection somewhere or bad display panel (screen unit).

I have a PT-47WX53 that has one vertical bar down the middle of the screen. Barely visible in a purple hue and about 3-4 inches wide. I'm looking for some suggestions. Thanks

A few simple things you may try. Under your menu on the tv look for convergence or it also may be under setup. Run the convergence setup and follow the on screen instructions. If the tv fails to converge while in setup you may need to replace some things however the parts are very very cheap. If your convergence setup works and you still have a bad picture, and or both, meaning the tv's convergence wont align then you may need 1 or 2 IC's and maybe need to change your coolant in the tv's RGB lens...all can be done with little experience and for under 50 bucks. I can give more detail if needed.

Bars on screen

you have a blown circuit on the motherboard of your tv. the only way to fix this is to send it to the manufacturer (hopefully you sent in the warranty). or take it to a tv repair shop.

Cant control tv with direct tv remote

I don't know what size TV you have but just installed Direct TV for parents and none of the codes worked after a LONG time my husband tried the Sears codes and got the last one he tried to work. He used 10056. It is a 47 inch LCD Proscan TV. If that doesn't work, you might want to try all of the Sears codes to see if one will work for you. Good Luck

Line across screen

I have the same problem with my 42 in. The line started to show up randomly about 1 month after i got my tv. The line isn't a line of dead pixels since when i change the aspect ratio or the tv the line moves up or down. I called sharp about the problem and they said it had something to do with my computer but i don't think that can explain why the problem shows up on all my tv inputs.

Screen on rca tv compressed into 2 inch line in middle

The 20F530T uses the relatively newer ITC008 chassis. If the picture collapses down and only a small bright line is visible, it means that your vertical output IC has stopped working correctly. This could be due to a defective IC, cracked solder joints on the IC or the power supply that feeds it. The IC should be replaced or resoldered and/or the vertical power supply restored by an experienced tech familiar with the new line of RCA TV's.
