KENMORE SERIES 80 DRYER..The Tensioner use it or not and how?

I have the Kenmore series 80 Dryer and Ihave taken the face off and removed the Drum. I wanted to clean everything while relacing the belt. However I have stumbled....there is what appears to be a tensioner laying in the bottom of the casing. When I get the new belt is this tensioner to be used? I don't see how the belt fits through this, since its a sealed tensioner. I can fit it over the drum and the motor pulley only! Please advise and thank you.

To fit the new belt, you will need the idler pulley (tensioner)...

The idler pulley fits in the slots on the bottom of the cabinet (in front of the motor) with the wheel or glide facing the left side. Place the belt (grooves inward) around the drum. Pull the belt through the middle of the idler pulley from the left side. Once the belt is pulled through the idler pulley, pull it around the motor pulley (this should force the idler pulley to "open up" and add tension).

If you still need help, I will try to provide you with a diagram shortly.
Good luck!

Place the idler in the floorboard with the pulley to the left. Ease the non twisted belt under the pulley inside the idler, raise up on the idler, loop the belt on the motor pulley and let the tension hold as shown HERE

I Was killin' myself over this. The thing on the bottom is the tensioner. If you pull a loop from the left to right through the hole in the tensioner it pulls the tensioner up and the two belt pieces seperate to form your tensioner. hope I explained a lil' better for you.

I would check all the screw's to make certain they are tight. That was my problem when mine was making noise. Look on the interior of the drum.

How do i replace the belt on my model 70 series kenmore dryer

You need to remove the dryer casing so the drum is viewable. You need to release the tension on the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off the pulley, then you can slide the belt off the drum. Replacement is the same as removal. The tensioner pulley can many times be accessed through a compartment in the rear of the dryer.

How do you tension the dryer bet on a Kenmore 80 series dryer

you will have to loop the belt through the roller first then while you are installing the belt around the drum it will have tension. two people will need to install this since you have not done this before I assume. One to hold the drum up for you

I have a used Kenmore Series 80 dryer & the drum stopped turning

Good day,
Not hard to do but check the 2 rear wheels that support the drum and change at the same time if needed. Inspect the belt tensioner as well.
Here's a good tutorial on the belt change.

I just bought a belt for my Kenmore 80 series dryer - how do you put it on the pully system?

The bottom of the belt goes straight from the drum to the motor.  The tensioner goes on the top portion of the belt.

How do i?

Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.

Dryer belt broke on my kenmore series 80

With the front cabinet panel off, place the drum against the back and on the rear rollers. The roller on the right will sometimes move toward the rear so reach from underneath and pull it forward. The rollers should sit in the groove. The drum will tilt forward but shouldn't fall off. Route the belt around drum, pulley and motor. Tilt the drum back and support it while placing the front panel back onto it's hooks. With the front panel on (don't screw it on yet), rotate the drum by hand to make sure the seal is not kinked and the belt won't slide off the pulley or motor. If all is well screw in the front panel and re-assemble the rest.

Dryer really squeals

Ok this is a really broad question, Kenmore will squeal when a belt tensioner or motor bearing is out, a frigidaire or small kenmore with control panel above the door and serial number starting with x will squeal when the bearing is out on the drum or the motor. This is a general cover on dryer noise with a model like Kenmore series 80 I can give solutions ok?
