I saw that many users are experiencing this problem.. I installed on my computer yahoo messenger 9, it didnt display messages. When i try to write something, i see everything, but after pressing enter, it all dissapears. The same when someone tries to write me smth, i only see at the bottom of the dialog "XX is writing a message", and then nothing comes up, there where the conversation should be displayed. I uninstalled that version and replaced it with 8. it still didnt work. i had IE7, i updated it to 8. i reinstalled flash player, i installed the java plugin. nothing helped. i reinstalled version 9... i got no idea what else could i do.

As its name implies, Yahoo Messenger allows you to exchange instant messages with other Yahoo users. But the software's capabilities extend far beyond one-on-one text conversations. You can use Yahoo Messenger to participate in chat rooms, share photos, make telephone calls, video chat, play games and more. When you experience problems accessing your Yahoo Messenger account, you may receive a message that it has been locked.
Locked Accounts Yahoo places locks on Messenger accounts as a security precaution. The locks take effect when there are multiple, failed attempts to access a user's Yahoo account. Even if you unsuccessfully tried to to sign in to a different Yahoo product, you may find your Messenger account locked. b> Unlocking Accounts b> To unlock your account, go to Yahoo's sign-in page and enter your user ID and password. When you reach your My Yahoo page, click on one of the Quicklinks you see on the left side of the page. Leave your My Yahoo page open. Sign into Yahoo Messenger for the Web, then try to sign into Yahoo Messenger. If you are unsuccessful, contact customer care. b> Current Versions b> "Account locked" messages aren't the only sign-in problems you may experience with Yahoo Messenger. Some users experience sign-in issues when using older versions of the software. Yahoo engineers recommend upgrading to the newest version of Messenger. To determine what version you have, look for the "About Yahoo Messenger" link under the Help menu. Visit the Yahoo Messenger website to determine if this is the current version. b> Other Sign-in Issues b> When you have trouble signing in to Messenger, verify that your Internet connection is working. You can do this by navigating to a webpage. If you are able to sign into Yahoo Mail but not Messenger, there may be a problem with your connection settings. The Yahoo Help website offers troubleshooting steps for these settings. Hope this helps
Please try uninstalling Yahoo Messenger and installing it or another instant messaging program. This usually occurs because the program is behaving too slowly and your computer is trying to catch up. Reinstalling could fix this problem, or your PC may just be getting very slow.
To remove it, click the Start button and choose Control Panel. Look for "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" or something similar. After waiting awhile, you should have a list of every program installed on your PC. Find Yahoo Messenger on this list and choose Uninstall. After the program is uninstalled, restart your PC.
You may want to install a program other than Yahoo Messenger. It sounds like your computer could just not be able to run Yahoo Messenger very well. If you wish, install Miranda IM from this link: http://miranda.googlecode.com/files/miranda-im-v0.9.22-unicode.exe. You'll still be able to contact all friends using Yahoo Messenger, but it will be a faster, simpler program. Or, if you'd prefer to keep using Yahoo Messenger, download it again at this page: http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/.
Make sure that you are not using Yahoo Messenger version 9 as there is a known bug about it. If you got the version 9 installed remove it from your PC & then install the latest version. Check you security software settings especially the Firewall. Some antivirus software could block the usage of messaging programs. Like for example Norton, check on the program controls of the Firewall.
Hope this help a bit. If you got any other questions regarding this issue please fell free to shoot me a message.
This is what yahoo had to say. We released an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 10.0.0.1270. This latest build includes a fix for the sign-in issues that have been affecting some users. If you were seeing an error code "81003005" when trying to sign in, this latest version may fix that problem. Even if you were experiencing a different kind of sign-in issue, we recommend installing this latest version. http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/win http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/

Ever since yahoo upgraded from version 8 to 9 and then 10, their software has become extremely dodgy and problematic for many old school users like myself. I have used yahoo messenger since 1998, and this is by far too bad for a company of this size and scale, must be a sign of microsoft partnership... crappy codes!
solution: revert back to latest version 8 http://filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/3153/
I have tried uninstalling using MS uninstaller utility and ran yahoo setup with an admin account as an administrator (R/Click) and the same ****ing problem over and over with the same code 0xc0150002, application failed to initialize, click ok to terminate.
This is the combination of microsoft's notoriosly fragile windows structure and yahoo's latest buggy messenger. Funny thing, when u check yahoo answers, u find the LAMEST and most ridiculous responses to questions regarding the subject. spammers and outright idiots respond with garbage. not even one solution to fix this.
so get an older version that works for u, to me its worth the trade off when the latest yahoo keeps failing me
Try rebooting your computer then do not open any programs except going to http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and downloading new installer and save it to your desktop. Now double click it and run the installer.
If the above does not work or if you are using Windows Vista try using
this link for the full installer (does not rely on yahoo servers).
These full installers come directly from a yahoo server and by pass the
web installer that most use. If on Windows Vista right click the full
installer and choose install as administrator. You might have to
temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn
it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts
and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User
Account Control on or off.
First of all you will need to remove whatever files have been downloaded for yahoo already. The files are located in C:\Program Files\Yahoo! Do this through explorer. (You could also do a search if they are not there.) Then go to http://downloads.yahoo.com/ and download mozilla firefox. After installed use this application to access the internet. Then type the link into the address bar http://downloads.yahoo.com/ and now download messenger. This should hopefully fix your problem.
