I never used a password on this computer. It is as it came from the factory.

I have a Satellite A135-2386 that is now asking me for a password in order to enter the system. I have never set a password on this system.

  • collazo53 Mar 02, 2009

It's my understanding that is a bios password because I can not even get into the system setup.

  • collazo53 Mar 02, 2009

It does not offer me the option of safemode. It does even allow me to enter the setup menu.

  • collazo53 Mar 02, 2009

No. The OS is windows Vista.

You're in luck.

Toshiba has admited to this problem and will unlock it for FREE.

Just find an authorised repair center HERE:

I'd recommend calling them and telling them your problem BEFORE driving over.

Just stick to your story that the computer started with a bios password you've never installed.

    Hi again.
Try a backdoor password, when it get to the password screen type Toshiba (make sure the T is upper case) if that doesn't work most Toshiba laptops and some desktop systems will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot.

Good luck and post back if you have no joy

If this is a windows password tap f8 before windows starts to load up, the advanced boot menu will come up, use safemode, and login with Administrator and no password, if you can't login have you set a password there?

If you are unable to login reinstall windows or use a xp password reset cd to reset the administrator password.

    instructions on that are here
    http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administra...

If this is a bios start up password, right when you power on the computer, please confirm the model of the laptop Satellite and ? provide as much detail as possible.

Also I would appriciate it if you could accept my solution so we can communicate better instead of going from expert to expert constantly.

In any case a sure fire way to get the bios password reset is to contact toshiba for the repair, it will cost you but they will get it reset. I may have instructions depends on the model. see the bottom of the laptop.

    Thanks,
    Ekse

so the password you need is vista login password?

  • Ekse Mar 02, 2009

if the password is a vista login you have two options

    1) reinstall vista

    2) use one of the tools here http://4sysops.com/archives/three-ways-t...

If the password is bios, then you need to contact toshiba see if they will repair it for you.

I will have to look up a service manual for your model and see how the bios password is reset on this one.

Maybe you mean log on password. If you never enter a password to log on, but suddenly when turning on the computer, you are prompted to enter a password to log on, but always failed. You try to log in using an administrator user but failed. Chances are, the operating system is infected with viruses.
So, the operating system has controlled the virus.

solution:
Install the new operating system (not repair the operating system)

Toshiba satellite laptop lockout

is it a windows password or poweron password? you must be wondering what are they?
windows password is when you have to enter the password to get into windows and before that you get to see the windows loading screen.
poweron password is hard to crack, it will ask a password on a black screen saying Enter a Password, and the background will be completely black in color.
if its a windows password, press the "Alt+Ctrl+Del" twice, you'll get a screen which will ask you a username and password. in the username and password type in, "Administrator" and password will be blank. hit enter. if it works, then for the rest of the steps, mail me at L2support.hp@gmail.com

Toshiba bios password removal process is meant for use on Toshiba laptops that you own or have had permission from the rightful owner to remove the password. If any of these processes are done incorrectly it may result in complete system failure or permanent system damage (you've been warned!).

Some Toshiba bios passwords can be reset using the Key Disk.exe utility, to do this you need a 1.44Mb floppy disk. Format the disk using Windows and then with a hex editor, change the first five bytes of the second sector to 4B 45 59 00 00.

Then put the floppy into your machine and boot it up, you'll be asked for a password, just press Enter. Then when you're asked to set the password, type Y then Enter, this will get you into the bios configuration where you can then type in a new password.

Aside from the KeyDisk, you can build a parallel Loopback plug, this is a simple device that plugs into the parallel port of the machine and removes the password when you boot it up.

To make it you will need a 25 pin DB25 plug, take the plug apart and join these pins using some old cable;
Pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, and 18-25

adaec67.gif
Plug it into your parallel port and boot up your machine, the password should be removed as soon as it boots.

Note: This will work on majority of older Toshiba's (1995 – 2002) and obviously only ones that have a parallel port.

Hi,
When system boots press the key to get into BIOS. Usually it is 'Del' Key. Once you get into BIOS, if not asking a password, get into admin menu and set the password option disabled.
If asking for a password while you get in to BIOS and you dont know the password, the only option is to reset the BIOS.
To reset BIOS u've to remove the back cover and remove and re-insert the CMOS battery while the laptop is powered off. After that, power on the laptop and set the bios to normal setting, especially the time. This wont harm any of your data.
Please come back and vote for me if this finds helpful for you. Thnx

Hello,

When you installed the system, you entered a BIOS password.
There is nothing you can do to bypass that password. The only solution is to take laptop to Toshiba Certified Service Center to have password disabled.

Hope it helps

If you keep pressing F8 before Windows starts to load it should display a menu, if you choose "safe mode" it may then load into Windows. If you're using WinXP you can try a system restore - click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. It should display a calendar. Click on any date in bold and restore to that date. It may solve the problem for you. Did you install a new game or anything just before it went wrong?
