The power switch is arcing internally and needs to be replaced. This is a common problem with some older receivers. Sometimes the switch can be opened and the contacts burnished.

The protection system will come on if for example the speaker wires are touching, or there is an overload in the system. If you can't get it to clear, then suspect a power transitor has failed, causing a short circuit.

Stereo amplifier shutdown.

  • The amplifier is showing the protect mainly due to a safety feature on the power circuit. The fault could be failure or short in the output stages, short in the speakers, fault in the power ciicuit or the error amplifier that triggers the relay.
  • To trace the fault it is impotant to make the test in the main board, disconnect the power to output to confirm if the output is faulty. similarily disconnect the powering circuit one by one to identify. replace or disconnect to confirm. Hope this helps. Good day

Tecnics SU-G95 stereo overloaded

Power down, disconnect the speakers and power back up. If it still say's overload, it needs to go to service. If not, check your wires, connections, and speakers one by one to hunt down the problem and correct. Hope this helps

Vintage Stereo Connection ???

Hi spanky

Where to start :) I am excited thinking about them :p You got 2 totally cool pieces of classic vintage gear there in the C2 and the Marantz. I have a C2 preamp myself (gathering dust but wont sell it cos its excellent) and the marantz would be totally cool to have(but then I am a little biased towards 70's vintage marantz). They ruled the roost in HiFi amps throughout that decade.

Because they are both integrated amps, you could use them as standalone systems with a pair of speakers, and just plug your favourite gear into them. If you just wanted to run up a nice sounding HiFi, I would sell the kenwood gear and just keep the Marantz. The Kenwood kr1100 has the edge in power, so if it is grunt you are looking for use that. Because vintage sound is all about stereo, you only really need an integrated amp to get great results.

the specs are
# Kenwood Model Eleven G (KR-11000G) Receiver
120W per channel min RMS, both channels driven, at 8 ohms from 20 to 20.000 Hz with no more than 0.03% total harmonic distortion.
Dynamic power output 440W at 4 ohms
Power bandwidth 5 Hz to 70.000 HZ
Frequency response 5 Hz to 100.000 HZ -1.5dB
Signal to noise ratio 115dB

The marantz is a little lower in power at 75rms a channel, but will have the sonic edge in vintage sound over the kr1100. Look them up on ebay and you will find that they do have some value to collectors and people seeking nice tone. There is an 1152 for sale here for AU$900

Best bet is to fire up the 2 integrated amps, and see how they are going. Run them for several hours to be sure there is no strange noises and crackles. Then decide if you want power or finesse.

You could also run both amps from the C2 preamp by connecting to the Amp in connections to the rear of the integrated amps.

happy to talk to you more about it, hit me with a Fixya if my advice was helpful to you. I would keep the marantz, use that and sell the rest and buy some nice speakers:)

regards
robotek

Yamaha v-663 reciever

Most amps will only power two sets of speakers direcrly hooked to amp (A&B). If you want audio throughout the house, I would recommend a PA system set up with individual room volume controls

Marantz model 2225

I presume you have taken the unit apart? Most receivers of this vintage had replaceable lamps, the trick was getting to them!
Some were held in place by glue, some were in rubber grommets, some were held by clips. Some of the lamps had wire leads and have to be unsoldered, some look like fuses (long thin glass tubes). Best to see what the replacement lamps look like first and them you will get an idea of what to look for when going th replace them.

GEM SOUND PA-750 POWER AMP

Hello plumer,

Locate a small slide switch at the back panel of your amp.
3 terminal and if you've snapped one of the wire, you'll see where the wire goes. But if it is 2 wire and using a ribbon type, follow the arrangement of the wire. No harm to the amp if you make a mistake. if bridge, all power will be shifted ti the left channel.

Good luck,

Center channel speaker

Is the amp already used for L R? If so, you either need another amp for center, or set your Sony for stereo mix down. I have mixed the center channel into my main LR in the past and found there were terrible phase cancellations, so I suggest you switch to Stereo, or use a separate amp.
