Create a folder on your music player called System. Copy over the Font and Firmware update into this folder. Disconnect and then reconnect your mp3 player. It should then recognize it with Device Manager software. This took me a good two hours to figured out.

How to unfreeze philips gogear 8gb mp3

Connect the player to power and pc. Reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch., and as soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. The philips device manager should come up now and recommend a repair, let it do so.

You must run the "Repair" in the Philips Device Manager that came on the installation CD - also available on Philips website.

Computer not detecting

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

THEN, do the "Repair" in the Philips Device Manager

MY PHILIPS 8GB NEED TO BE REBOOTED

If you just want to restart the player after freezing, then press [VOL+] & [POWER ON] until player resets.

If you want to restore the player to factory settings, then connect to PC & power supply.

Install and run Philips Device Manager from product CD.

Select repair / restore option and follow on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-load the firmware.

NOTE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL TRACKS ON THE PLAYER
