Asus P4GV LA Manual I need the owner/tech manual for this mobo. I can't figure out the pins for the HPanel, such as which way do they face etc. Also if there are any other jumpers I need to set?

I have a copy of what is on the hp site, but I need the schematics.  I send them an email.  Perhaps that will help.  I need more technical information. Thanks anyway, I will also try both sites again.  Maybe rewording (again) might help.

I am trying to build a computer for my granddaughters. I do not usually start from scratch.  Normally I update, but I decided to purchase a mobo from ebay and give it a shot.  I put everything together, but there must be some wires I am not connecting and the ones (although marked) for the Hpanel are not working properly.  The cpu fan does come on, but the on/off switches and lights are not working. Also the harddrive does not seem to be getting power. There seems to be nothing going to the monitor.  I am definitely getting an education with this experiment.  I have checked "how to build a computer" on the internet and again not enough technical advice.

Finally found what I needed after leaving messages with Dell support.  Thanks everyone.

I have one of these boards.

Your motherboard is out of a Compaq Presario SR1503WM. This board was produced by Asus for Compaq/HP and the unit was sold only at Walmart (hence the WM at the end of the model number.) Specifications, drivers & board graphic layouts are available on HP website. Just go to support and search by the model number & keyword "specifications".

Good luck.

If you go to the Asus website and do a search on HPANEL1, you will see other MOBO's with the same connector. And it does work.

basicaly asus made this board for hp so they wont allow a manual to be downloaded from their site, the manual needs to be in HP
now HP wont give you a link using the motherboards name but unless you have the name of the pc that was using it then yes you can find its manual in

oh they wont do that. besides the standard picture of where the normal stuff is like, bios battery memory dimms ect..they can't give you the more advanced schematics.

but tell us what exactly you want to do and maybe we can help

seems I am the only one bothered here, guys where are you??
    anywho. lets talk

first yes without a manual its hard, but the best thing you can do is this. once you find the power button the rest is easy.

the H panel is always in the bottom right corner, it would have written there (Led, HDD, power switch or PWS or PW ect..) if it doesn't here's what you do.

    1. get a screw driver
    2. hook the power, and short 2 pins at a time which ever 2 power up the board are the power button, now connect the cable for the power button to those 2 pins you just found.

reset switch, is always under the power button.
hard drive and power light are always on the left side .

now that you fixed buttons, lets look at why it powers but doesn't display.

makesure that the power supply works 100% on another pc.
now makesure the 4 pin connector is also hooked to the motherboard which is usualy situated to the left of the processor.

if it powers on and no display its either, BAD or not the correct ram in use or else a bad graphic card if none then a bad motherboard.

try resetting the bios by removing the battery and puting it back after 15min.

the number 1 advice about building a pc, is never never never buy a motherboard from ebay, everything else from ebay is fine except these always buy from a shop, pc world or a computer fair as BRAND NEW not used.

Asus mobo flashes on startup, no video

You should unplug the power cord from the power supply, pop out the cmos battery, switch the bios reset jumper to the 2 and 3 pins, wait about a minute, put the jumper back to 1 and 2 pins, put cmos battery back in, plug in power cord to psu and turn on pc. If you have any issues with this process please refer to your owner manual for the motherboard or look one up on their website. Please let me know if this fixes your issue.

Dell Asus M2N61-AX MB front panel connector Nix ATX Gaming case

I assume you mean the HDD,reset,on switch etc where they plug onto the mobo.

Most mobos are labelled on the board but you will need good eyesight to read. They are labelled HDD, RESET, SPEAKER etc.

If not simply look up mobo manual from vendors site. You will need the DELL serial / part number from the old unit though.

Need the pin assignments for the mother board

On most motherboards the front panel connections are printed in the connectors on the motherboard. When you connect the various LED indicators and when you power up and they do not light up then just switch the connectors around, because they are are polarized.
You can go to the motherboard WEB site (ASUS) to download a manual, the manufacturer and model number is printed on the motherboard.

I need the name of the motherboard used in the Compaq Presario SR1410NX so I can look at the manual.

HP lists the Motherboard as an Asus P4GV-LA.

Here is the support page for your computer:

SR1410NX Support

Click on Product Information to get the specs for it, including motherboard info.

Unfortunately Asus does not list this version on their support site but HP has quite a bit of info on the link listed below.

P4GV-LA Specs

Thanks for using Fixya.

ASUS P4GV-LA motherboard swapout

It's true that P4 boards are not manufactured any more. But again, are you sure that it’s the motherboard which has problem, the SMPS (power supply might have some problem.) might be faulty too. Check the SMPS first.

Asus P5N-E SLI Mobo will not boot or post.

Hi bart, please re-check you're memory. See page 1-17 in you're user manual. (Read everything)!
You're Asus board can not use 184-pin DDR DIMM's.
Also check the QVL list for supported memory page's 1-18 & 1-19.
I did not see Corsair on either page.
You're board can only use 240-pin DDR2 memory. Please read the "Notes" at the top of page 1-18.
If everything (Regarding memory) is within the Asus specifications than clear the cmos/bios & re-boot again. If you're system still does not boot than remove one DIMM & try again.
Asus warrants their boards for three years. Call Asus tech at
1-812-282-2787 EST, IL 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The call is on you but the service is free. It's worth every dime.

Good Luck & Kind Regards.
Would you be kind enough to let me know what Asus suggested? (If it comes to that).

Normally on the board there is silk printing to state what connection goes where. Also on the black connector i.e. power LED there is a small arrow that goes to pin 1 of the POWER LED pins.

Hope that was any help thanks J
