You will more than likely need your capacitors replaced. That is the most common problem with these.

I have 42PF9431D/37 TV the problem is every 5 or 10 minutes shutdown with out reason, could you please advice what could be the problem??? george

You may have your set too close to the wall causing heat buildup. Try positioning it further away from the wall and running a small fan towards the back of the set to see if this goes away. Many times this problem can be resolved by blowing the dust off of your internal components.

PHILLIPS PLASMA TV MODEL #42PF9431D/37 Heard

Hi, Usually any "Pops" are an Electrolytic Capacitor "blowing up" quite literally, or "Gassing" as it is called. This happens due to some sort of power problem. Capacitors hate AC Voltage and Current, and Heat and Over Voltage. All of which, I have no doubt it was exposed to before it went "Pop" This is only a symptom of a far greater problem, to come, no doubt, soon, the rest of the set will fail too. Please DO NOT USE. this set any more, you risk fire or explosion or both. If you MUST use it at least unplug at bed time. Theses days home repair except for the most rudimentary problem is not feasible, setting aside the safety aspect. In my professional opinion, I would recommend, that you get a "Quote" for repair from a Philips Authorised Service Agent This is very important, that you contact a Philips head office and ask for a referral. This way at least you can make a decision to repair or replace.

Philips 42" flat screen green light comes on then turns to red . TV will not come on I have unplug it 4 to 5 times before it turns on

you ave a faulty power supply board, and the tv put on protection mode, check for bad caps, if you know how to do it.
if not check the part number on the board and google it to get a new one and replace.

Philips 42PF9431d/37 behaving erratically

I would have the technician check out the key board assembly (button panel for lamen's terms). If not, then it could be a problem on the IR reciever board that is causing the small signal board to behave rather unusually. Tell him to check the ir board, there should be a surface mounted capacitor that will read shorted on a diode scale under the infra red diode. If that solves it,then it should cost you no more than 60$ reasonably. The logic board wouldn't have anything to do with the button changing.

I have also worked on a lot of this whole series of philips plasmas, and the control board is the least likely suspect from my experiences
