Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

Dryer wont turn on

I used my dryer less than 12 hours ago and everything worked as normal. I tried to use my dryer this morning and it wont turn on. I have only had the dryer for less than 2 years. I have already flipped the circuit breaker and that did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like the door switch or main fuse has blown, check the door switch, click it in and out to see if it has the clicking sound,if not replace, you can check the main fuse by removing the back panel,it is located on the blower box,let me know-mike

It worked fine one morning when my husband used it and then later that day it just wont turn on at all. we tried all different settings and the on button just wont kick it on. Could it be a fuse? or plug?...

need make and modal but you should check and see if the drum turns with not much resistance if so the belt could be broken. On some brands they have a switch to turn the dryer off if the belt breaks. If one of the two fuses supplying the dryer is open the dryer may not start.

It shows 8.8. and does not start

After having this problem I believe I found a solution. I think the problem is related to tha ambient temperture of the room where the dryer is located. If it's too cold, you get the 8.8 error. When I first had the error it was at 7:00 in the morning trying to dry some clothes that were in the washing machine overnight. I couldn't get the dryer to work and had to go out for a few hours. When I got back around 11:00, the dryer worked fine. The only difference I could think of was that it was warmer than before. So a few weeks later I rememberd this and tried to test my theory. I waited for a very cold morning and tried the dryer and got the 8.8 error. Then I took a small patio table heater and turned it on in front of the dryer for about 20 minutes. The dryer fired up right away. I've used the same routine whenever I get the 8.8 error and it's always solved the problem for me. Hope this helps
