Ps3 goes online to web, but can't connect to other players online
Ok heres the deal:
my ps3 can go online to the web and Home system on ps3. I can go on to cod4 but make it as far as the find match screen, then says waiting for 6 more players, as if it can't connect to anyone. i tried last night to make sure it was my ps3 and not the linksys wcg200 motem by bringing my friends xbox 360 over and that worked for a little while, maybe 4-5 hours before it did the exact same thing as my playstation. soo, is there anybody who knows whats goin on?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

First test the Internet connection by connecting a LAN cable from your DSL or cable modem to your computer and see if you can get into the Internet.
If you can't access the Internet then phone your ISP and get them to test your connection to your modem.
If the Internet connection is OK then click on this WEB site and follow the instruction to configure the PS3 :- wii.php">http://fixhomenetwork.com/xbox-play-station-wii.php
From the looks of the picture it is a PS2. To connect to the internet for online gaming(you cannot surf the web with a PS2) you simply need to buy a "PS2 Network Adapter". It hooks to the back of your PS2 system behind the removable plate, and you connect either a standard phone line, or an Ethernet cable into it. A bonus is that there are no monthly payments like the XBOX system, so all you have to do is buy the adapter and you are set.
Here is a link to what you need, but you can by it from many places(best buy, walmart, ect...)
Just buy that adapter and follow the instructions that come with it. I will have to warn you though, the PS2 online community is not linked to the PS3 online community, so there may not be many players to play against since most of them do not use the PS2 online anymore.
Use the PS3's Internet connection test under Systems Settings to determine if you've access to the web. If this test fails you will need to do the following: 1) Reset your DSL modem. 2) Once the cycle is completed, run the Internet Setup under Systems Settings within your PS3. 3) Follow the instructions you should be able to gain access to the web and online game play.
gucciskills, this is a common problem if you have other people using your home internet connection at the same time. I have that problem every now and then even with no one on the home PC. It just means you are losing your connection. Try and reconfigure your router setting and see if that helps.
I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.
