Kenmore washer stock no. 22642 shakes terribly during spin cycle

My washing machine seems to work ok but during the spin cycle it slowly builds to a thunderous shaking sound. Seems like the agitator inside is coming off its line.

My series 80 washer would not go through the spin cycle. It was making a loud clicking noise. I replaced the motor coupling as a kit, less than $25.00 dollars from the appliance store. It isn't really a big job. Had to lay it down to accomplish. Now, as a result of laying it down I have a serious out-of-balance issue during the spin cycle. The guy at the appliance store said there is a plate underneath that may not be positioned just right. Anyone have any suggestions?

There is a suspension plate under the tub.
It also has 3 pads on it to support the tub.
There are springs attached to support the angle of the tub.
Check all these parts and repair or replace as necessary.

Excesive Shaking during spin cycle

Your washer has self adjusting rear legs . Tilt the machine foreward and look at the back legs . If one is stuck in , use a screwdrive and pry it out till both legs are in the out position . Set washer back down slowly and the rear legs will automatically adjust .

Kenmore warsher, Model num 110.14202300, not drain or spin

The clothes too wet after spin cycle tells me that the water ump is functioning. If it wasn't, there would still be lots of water in the machine when the cycle ended. These Kenmores have the water pump mounted on one side of the electric drive motor and the transmission, drive shaft, and agitator on the other side. The transmission is fastened to the motor by a "coupler", a three piece assy that often breaks. This common failure allows the machine to complete a cycle, however, because of the broken coupler, there is no drive to the tub and no spin or agitate. The clothes seem wet because the spin motion is supposed to provide the force to extract the excess moisture. Leave the lid open and verify that there is no agitate or spin.(During spin cycle use a pen to press down on the safety interlock, a small opening on the the of the machine, toollow the unit to spin with the lid open). If you verify this, flip the machine over and locate the coulper on one side of the motor. One side will be cracked along the shaft. Sears parts stores carry the coupler in stock. ($18.50) Hope this helps.

My Kenmore model 22642 top loading washer leaks somewhere from the bottom. I turned it over and couldn't see any obvious wet spots. All hoses are secure.

follow your drain line back into the bottom of the machine, there will be a box like plastic part that it hooks up to. I have had the plastic split causing it to leak during the draining cycle.

Machine legs should be adjusted so that machine is level and standing on all four legs. The load in the machine should be evenly distributed. Utube has an excellent video on washing machine repair.

The Guide Plate underneath is out of alignment,, You might have to call me on this one. The only reason I am sure of this is because when my delivery guys would deliver a direct drive washer such as your, sometimes when the machine is laid down to far on its side, it gets out of alignment. Easy fix,, Just hard to explain.

syrny,

Not sure what you did, exactly. First, does the machine shake when spun empty...and then with water only? If so, you have probably failed to tighten something or misaligned something. Go over your work.

No shakes? Rearrange your load. You may have a pair of heavy wet jeans which is throwing the whole thing out of kilter. It only takes about a half pound of sodden clothing to do this.
