Question about Whirlpool WED8300S Dryer

Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer PF code

I've looked up the PF code on this site and people say simple power failure. Most people who explain the problem say this trips the breaker. Mine is not tripping my breaker. It happens when I use timed dry over 30 minutes.

The support guy came out, replaced the control board....did not check temp sensors or anything else. Said if the control board didn't fix it, it would be time to call electrician. I think it's an issue with the dryer. The grate on the back of the dyer (the silver one) looks rusted or scorched and I've had temp issues before. Like I said, it's not tripping the breaker either, the machine is resetting itself. Any ideas?
PF code keeps coming up. Some days it shuts off repeatedly and other days runs fine. Best Buy tech replaced machine control electronics, console electronics, and checked wiring conections. An electrician checked the wiring. Its fine. voltage 118 to 120 volts. Called Best Buy again. They are sending a subcontractor out.

All of a sudden after 18 months, my dryer keeps shutting off the cycle and showing the PF code anytime I try and use the timed drying feature. It shuts off at different intervals but doesn't every make it through the whole cycle. I've sat next to the dryer and as soon as it stops spinning I look and the PF is showing. If it loses power it certainly seems to be coming back on instantly. It has never tripped a breaker.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer PF code

dmarshall05 again:
Two technicians have been out (new guy & experienced guy). First tech didn't take lower panel off, but 2nd tech did and found that drying vent tube (4" tubing) had disconnected. I replaced the rigid vent that came with it to vent to the left side instead of the back. That was 6/3 and today is 6/6 and it hasn't happened since. It was happening every load where it would run 3 minutes and shut off, then cool off for 5 minutes, run for 3 ....
Check you vent tube. I'll post again if this turns out not to be the solution.

MY maytag neptune dryer center wont start when I press the start button on the bottom unit it shows PF

The PF is a power failure code and it indicates the control is not sensing any line voltage
Check the circuit breaker for the dryer is not tripped. The PF could be caused by a voltage drop during a storm but you should be able to clear it and run the dryer

Kenmore Elite Oasis Electric Dryer - no power (PF code)

Press and hold the "Start" button to restart the dryer cycle if the "PF" (power failure) error code appears. This code often appears when a cycle is interrupted before it completes. You may also check the breaker or household fuse, and ensure the machine has not come unplugged.

Power failure control panel beeps no lights on panel and oven wont turn on. have lights on inside of oven. do i need a code, never have before. always showed PF for power failure.

Was the oven doing a self clean when the PF occurred? If so the cavity limit probably tripped.
Sometimes the owner wants to shut down the process of self clean for whatever reason that also trips the cavity limit. If the oven circuit breaker is weak then their could be a power failure during which the oven was on and that could cause the cavity limit to trip. No lights on panel means the temp inside the oven control panel exceeded normal operating temp and the small inline fuse going into the control panel has melted:

This is what that small fuse looks like. To get to the insides
you usually drop the side trim exposing the screws then the controls fold outward.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.PF is power failure. Check the circuit breaker. Turn it off and on and see if it fixes it. It may have tripped only half the breaker and needs to be reset.

My Frigidaire dryer will not start. It shows a PF trouble code. What does this mean?

PF is showing you that there is a power problem. Check your dryer circuit breaker at the power panel. This can be a sing that one of the 2 breakers has tripped. Push the CB hard to OFF and then back to ON. Then try and start your dryer. If that does not work just respond here and I will help you.

Try selecting "No Heat" after resetting the CB and see if the dryer starts. If it does you could have a bad heating element that caused the breaker to trip to begin with. Sometimes when the heating element fails the broken link will contact the chassis and cause the CB to trip. Heating element failures are usually caused by poor airflow. You may want to look for any signs of lint in your dryer to include the lint filter area and all the way to the outside wall exhaust point.

Power Failure without tripping breaker

Sounds like an overheat code tripped due to obstruction in the exhaust. There is also a vent tube on the bottom of the dryer that could be loose.

Trips breaker and get "PF" on display even when not tripped

This error code indicates "power failure" was detected. This could be caused by a bad/loose connection at either the logic board, the relay board, or at one of the three main power connection terminals on the back of the dryer. The logic board is located inside the control panel. The relay board is located in the base of the dryer. You can unplug and reseat electrical connections at these locations and check the main power cord hook-up at the terminal block. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer PF code

After ranting and raving about similar issues with my own Whirlpool Sport, with no success from a ton of repairs and technicians, I decided to check the exhaust vent from dryer to outside - thinking that the dryer must be sensing an overheating problem to trigger internal shutdowns without tripping the house breaker. Sure enough the vent flap on the outside of the house had become stuck, instead of flipping open when the dryer is working. I fixed the vent flap and the problem was solved. So check all aspects of the venting - a squashed flex hose, stuck or partially closed vent flap, something covering the vent. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the correct ones.

Kenmore 67082 "PF" power failure code

Check your circuit breaker. Reset it even if it doesn't look tripped. It is a dual switch and sometimes you can't tell if one of them is tripped. Then try it. When you reset the breakers leave them off for about 10 minutes before turning them back on.

Code "PF" = N/A

Soft Touch -PF- means power failure, nothing else. Most likely the problem is not with the dryer. The circuit breaker became too weak for the dryer load. I beleive replacing the circuit breaker will solve the problem. back
