I had a shoestring wrap itself momentarily around the brush. I turned off the vaccuum and have pressed the reset button over a period of time-anything I might do other than drive the 30miles to the repair guy?
I've found that my SEB236 locks up about every 6-8 weeks. The cause: long people hair and dog hair get wrapped around the drive shaft and eventually stop it from moving.
I use my SEB236 only in two bedrooms, so it's not getting much use before it clogs, though I vacuum at least every 48 hours.
It's poor design. The case (obviously) has an opening to allow the belt to attach to the drive shaft via a gear. The problem is that the motor is right next to it AND they've added an impeller, so when the drive shaft rotates, it blows air over the motor to keep it cool. That same action also pulls the aforementioned hair up and around the shaft, eventually clogging it so bad that the drive shaft no longer rotates.
