Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I have a Panasonic Mini stereo SC-CH94M bought in 1996. Recently a CD blocked in the carrayer. I had to opened-it to take it back in place. Now, the carrayer indicates an error message when I turn it on. He is trying to scann the disks 3 times, but it stops at the begening and it is traying to move to the left and does'nt scann all the way to the right. After the error message, the groop "F" is highlited. Is it possible to reset the CD player? Thanks Michelrvenne@videotron.ca

SC-CH94M It use to work OK.
This is not a problem of reader, This is a problem at finding the wright CD on the list?

  • michelrvenne Mar 02, 2009

I know I can bye an other one,
It was working OK yerterday it is just a matter of having the carrayer finding the disk.

  • michelrvenne Mar 02, 2009

Do you think is possible to find the manuel for this Unit?

  • michelrvenne Mar 02, 2009

hbsurfdawg thanks for your reply, the Reader is moving along on the track but stops at the begining of "B" location on the track and does not run completely from one side to the other and refuses to mount any disc, (It was going OK yesterday) After three try it stops and indicates error and the button "F"section is litten.
But the carryer is stop at "B1". Thanks Michel

I am familiar with the Panasonic and back then they had some Readers that would fail to move along the track and read the disc. If you are getting an error it is about 85-90% the IR or Infrared is ok but it sticks on this delicate track. Back then we could replace it, but it not worth doing... for that I am sorry.

Unless this has sentimental value, it is not worth pursuing and you to answer your question there is nothing that you can reset to get it to work properly.

One question . Can you play Any CD's at all consistently?

If so, then it plays only that format. CD's today use different formats from 1996.

If you find one that works, then that format will be the one that plays and you can use it to play Only that format.

it will not play mp3 or any recent recordings that are done on a computer or from a friend unless it is recorded in that older format.

Every time that you power up the unit it performs an internal reset/test. The failure you are seeing is caused by the mechanism being "out of time". Unfortunately, the only way to resolve this is to dis-assemble the unit and re-assemble in a particular order with the parts "aligned" properly. This is not a simple task and will require the service manual to indicate the alignment points. I have done a number of these and they are not the easiest. If you are off by 1 tooth in a cam gear the unit will not work properly. I would suggest that you take this to a Panasonic authorized service center. They will have the instructions and jiigs to insure proper assembly.

The carriear whiuch you r mentioning as you removed and refitted.its not that easy as when you remove it will be set at particular allignment and when you refitted it that exact proper company allighment is got disturbed so its not getting detected and this is happening.just refitt everything again and again till it grets perfect.its just the fitting error.it should be exact as orignal.otherweise it will not support.there is nothing like pressing buttons and it will reset.

That is not a matter of reset.

The CD starts reading and as soon as the lens is moved detects an error, and goes in Fault mode, that is the F.

It can be a lose contact to lens pickup, a damaged lens pickup, or a mechanical problem.

The unit must be taken apart and tested to fix this.

Better if the job is done by a technician , if you DIY follow the service manual to do the repair.

Start checking the contacts to lens pickup.
Check if belt is ok, belt and motor should be fine.
If you do not find any mecanic fault , then replace lens pickup, try cleaning it first.

repair must be done by a qualified technician

You can find parts and service manual here

Unfortunatly there is no way to reset the cd player.

it sounds as thought has a problem with hardware in the carrier.

you can take it in to a repair shop and have them try to repair it, but it would be cheaper and faster to just replace the whole unit.

I hope everything works out.
best of luck.
please rate good.

This is probably a dirty or dusty lens, or possibly the optics failing, please try a cd lens cleaner and canned air and then try again.

if the tray/ carrier is offbase and not where its supposed to be that could be the problem instead of the lens.

Can you tell me more about the error message you receive?

I am looking to find an English version of the operators manual for the Panasonic CD-Stereo System SC-PMX2. Can you help? Thanks

Hi,

I had some trouble finding a manual but the nearest match I could find was for model SC-PM12. Please take a look at the following link. If it looks like the right one then you can download a free copy from there. Fingers crossed... :o)

Your Panasonic SA-VX uses a Switch Mode Power Supply ( SMPS ). Do not ever attempt to fix it yourself unless you are well versed in electronics. ou can damage the system seriously. Seek professional help.

The CD loading mechanism is out of time and has not reset correctly. This cannot be reset. The loading mechanism must be dis-asembled and rebuilt. This is not a DYI repair. Any Panasonic service center can repair this for you.

If your adapter has a stereo mini male plug, you will probably have to buy a headphone adapter plug and use the headphone jack on the stereo for your input connection.

Does not power up.

chuck05,

You might try to find a reset button on the back of the unit. Also, the Aiwa website may have a "support" staff that can see if they have an archived manual or tell you which buttons to push. Also, check to see if the unit has a fuse in back. Finally, check a website called audio.manualsonline.com . It's a free deal where people exchange manuals and information.

This can be fixed, but the method of doing this involves the rebuilding of the CD loading mechanism. This should be done by a Panasonic authorized service center. There is a specific way to build and align this mechanism. There was also an engineering modification to this mechanism to prevent problems as well.

My Panasonic CD player wont play any of my CD's and its a Panasonic CD Stereo System Model No.SC-ak610

Does it try to read the CD's are they spinning, if so it may need the laser lens cleaning. Or the rails that the little sledge that the laser moves backwards and forwards on may need cleaning and regreasing.
