Step 1:

If the printer can copy a document under the glass, black and white and color, then it will be a driver issue.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

For a quick fix follow the above steps to turn off the fax service(unless you need the fax service running) The missing dll file may be from your printer/scanner (if lexmark I would say definatley)
Try reinstalling the printer software to repair(uninstall them first).

its quite possible tat ur hardware is malfunctioned, possibly teh operatin system (windows XP / vista / ME / 98) is gone currupt, or simply u can unhook the USB of the printer before restartin it, and hook it again only after restartin it.

Try this:

Go to the Control Panel, then open Printers and Faxes.

If your Canon is listed remove it by right clicking and deleting.

Check Add and Remove software to see if any part of Canon’s software is listed and delete it if it is.

Leaving the printer on and connected, restart your system.

This should force Windows to recognize the printer and install a compatible driver from its library.
If successful, choose some document to print to see if the printer is now responding.

If this is also successful, then try reinstalling Canon’s software to regain access to special features not part of the Win driver.
