Question about Avaya MLX 5D Corded Phone

My customer has an 400 series Avaya PBX, we relocated the servcie demarc and reconnected incoming ground start and loop start lines. They are now experiencing a delay in extension pick ups, The hunt seems to have a delay? Any suggestions

    Which system do you have? The phone listed is for a merlin legend, which does not have a 400 card.

    are you saying there is a delay in the hunt from the phone company?

The MLX phones work on Merlin Legend only. Do you have a Legend?

Is it possible to get caller ID for an incoming call if I have that number saved as a speed dial? If so, how do I get that. My phone is the Avaya IP Office 5410. Thanks


If the number matches the CID number, you should get the name as well. But here is the hard part.
IF your system requires you to dial an access code (say 9 to get an outside line) you may have that speed dial number saved as:
913125551212

If so, the incoming caller ID would have to match exactly, meaning CID would need to show 913125551212 in order for this to work.

BUT, caller id probably only shows 13125551212, and as such, wont work.

The coils on your PBX need tuned. These coils need to be on a regular maintenance schedule
so that they are impedance-matched to the telephone company's equipment (their line cards).
The incoming call causes the telco's line card to try to adjust its impedance to your
PBX's out-of-tune coils, and you get access to outside lines for awhile, but the telco's line
card tends to return to the impedance specs that it "knows" is correct, and when that
happens, your PBX loses access to outside lines until you (or a customer) calls into the PBX
from an outside line.

Incoming calls ring once and are told thew will be transferred and then a voice tells them goodbye


Sounds like your system lost its programming so now the voicemail ports are just like extensions, they are ringing and picking up. And since the voicemail doesn't know where the phone systemn is, it just transfers all calls to the lowest numbered extension (10)

The system needs to be reprogrammed completely.

I got the Avaya 5410 phone at home. Can I connect this peice to my landline? If so, how should I unlock it. When tried connecting the light glows but I cannot hear the ringtone.


This is a digital phone handset to use with a Avaya DIgital PBX. You will not be able to use this as a "regular" phone at your home with a tranditional phone line.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE TIME OR FIND OUT WHAT TIME THE PHONE IS ON?


Hi time is set on the PBX depending on the version of CM its either done on the web interface or from the command line. If you are on > CM1 there is an NTP section to add a network time protocol server IP address, the pbx will correct the timeslip with that server

External caller ID does not display on either line talkswitch 284


Log into your TalkSwitch Management Software.
Go to Telephone Lines.
Under each incoming line make sure that Caller ID is checked.
Click File> Save
Hopefully this will fix it for you.

You will need to talk to your PBX people as you will need to make a programming change to allow.

Mitel sx-20 trunk interrogation function codes


From a DTMF station set installed as the test line on equipment #1, go into trunk group programming (Command #66)
The SX-20 display will show programming registers.
A B C D E F G H
A,B = Trunk equipment Number (1st trunk should be displayed)
C = Register 1
D = Trunk Group Membership 0 = Incoming only
1 = Group 1
2 = Group 2
3 = Group 4
4 = Group 4
E = Trunk Type 0 = Standard CO Trunk
1 = Dictation Trunk
F = Reversal Meaning 0 = Not Incoming of Disconnect
1 = Incoming Call
2 = Incoming Call or Disconnect
G = Disconnect Timing 0 = 60ms
1 = 500ms
2 = 1.5 sec
3 = 4 sec
H = Start Type 0 = Loop Start
1 = Ground Start
Move to the appropriate register using the ENTER/NEXT function (star key).
Change the data as required.
Exit programming (# key)

No, that was a drawback of the 44xx series phones. You should use a Polycom conference phone for a conference phone.
