Re: lanier 5645 cannot reset printer red button just...
When you press the 'red' button, it probably says 'paper mismatch, or load "XXX" paper, and you can override it by selecting one of your paper trays manually? It is likely a "legal size document' and you don't have legal size paper loaded, or something along those lines. Try printing the document after manually selecting the paper size/tray (turning off auto paper select) in your printer preferences dialog box on your PC first.

this is a problem with the thermistors and will need a technician to come out and fix it for you, the part #'s are aw100052 and aw100053 for the thermistors but you have to enter service mode to clear and reset the code.

It's most likely your Laser diode (LD unit). You're going to require a tech...see the posts the following link for the same problem. It's for a Ricoh model, but your machine actually is a Ricoh Machine (Ricoh owns Lanier), and is virtually identical to this one -just a generation older.
Try this press the "yellow/ca" botton, then enter 1-0-7, then press and hold the "red" stop" till the display changes. Once, it changes turn the Main power switch OFF. Not the one on the control pannel. Let it power down then turn it back ON. If the problem is still there try to turn the copier Off again and unplug the sorter/ finisher and turn the copier back ON. Is the problem gone, if so you may have to get a service person come in and repair the sorter. Good Luck.....
