Lens problem on my dsc-w1 sony digital camera

I had the camera for a while and this problem happened before but it fixed after an hour or so by itself (idk how) and now the same thing happened again but it won't fix. The lens wont retract it keeps going back and forth when i turn it on. I try to push th lens back in but its not working. The picture is really blurry and it used to be great. I am really disapointed and i hope it does get fixed. Please help me. :]

You might not believe and I don't think that this happens with all the same cameras, but I have the same camera and what I did was connect the cable to my printer (hp psc 1315 all-in-one). After I connected it, it was working fine, but I still thought that I wouldn't be able to take pictures...But I turned it on and it worked perfectly! It's amazing! I did this 3 weeks ago to see what happened and I fix my camera without even trying to do so! The only thing that bothers me is that it keeps saying that the batteries are low, although they are recharged...but you can take pictures and do what ever you want!

Sony 4.1 what do i do to delete all the pctures off the card once i have downloaded to the computer. I need a clear card

The best option is just format the card. It will not only delete your pictures, but also all "hidden" stuff, like folders or system files.
There is a menu in your camera that allows you to format the card.

Pro and cons of wide teleconverter lens

Great question! The Pros: -Gives you a wider angle of view on your built-in lens -Gives you the potential to have a shallower depth of field when you zoom in on an object. This is a lens effect which makes objects behind the subject appear less in focus than the subject in the foreground - can be a positive if you're trying to have a more cinematic-like effect
The Cons: -Apparent lens distortion around the frame edges. You'll notice a "bowing" effect happen. -Increased ability to have dust and scratches on your lens. Make sure both the front and rear element are clean! -Possible increase in light glare. If the sun is in the background, expect to see more lens-flare effects due to the lack of a lens shade, and the increased number of glass elements that the light needs to pass through.
Personally, I like having the wide angle adapter in my pro-sumer video camera kit because it gives me another option when I'm in close-quarters. If you can avoid lens flare, it will be great addition to your camera.

I have a 5 yr. old Canon Power shot SI camera. It

Hi Mike, the bad news is that your camera is beyond any hope of economic repair.Your camera displays the absolute textbook symptoms of this fault.

It has suffered a ccd failure, these often occur on cameras which are five to six years old and replacement costs far more than the camera is worth (that's if you can get the spare part, and it's not a DIY job).

Your camera has the infamous Sony 5MP ccd fitted; huge numbers of these failed prematurely due to a manufacturing defect and there was a quiet recall program whereby affected cameras were repaired for free (but only if the customer complained), usually by Sony. Apart from a couple of Sony and Nikon models this process ended last September as by then almost all affected models had pased their design life expectancy. Failures after that are therefore no longer considered to be premature.

The problem which causes ccd's to fail is now well understood and manufacturing processes were improved by all manufacturers, but you still shouldn't expect ANY digital camera to last more than five years without failing for one reason or another. Even top of the line professional Nikon models only come with a measly two year warranty: I can buy a new car for that with a seven year warranty and the car has far more which can go wrong... Sadly, late model highly electronic AF 35mm film and all digital cameras just won't last as long as simpler models.

Sorry there's no prospect of a fix, but I hope that you found my reply to be of some use. If so, please rate my answer.

Hi, what would be ther better choice a digital concepts 2.2 telephoto lens or a kodak 1.4x teleconverter lens for a kodak p850 digital camera

The 2.2 would be a stranger lens, more than doubling the power of the Kodak camera lens; whereas the kdak 1.4x converter onlyincreases the lens sttrength by about 40%.

How to use this lens

I'm not familiar with the F-828 but on all the other CyberShot models which I've used this adapter on you have to enable it in the camera set-up menu before you can use it.

Some CyberShots need a firmware update before this can be done.

The lens will not retract.

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture ondisplay, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacingbatteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restartingcamera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try aneasy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them)while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the modeselector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair frommanufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.
