Question about Televison & Video

We had a power surge yesterday. The TV has lost all the net command data as well as now there is a blurred picture. During the original set up there was a code that was entered and this blurred picture went away. Does anyone know this service code. This is a Mitsubishi Projection Television model WD - 62725

Try using the auto focus, if the picture stays blurred, then you may have blown something on the convergence circuits, this can happen after a power surge.

Hi there.
After a power surge reset the TV as follows >> press the SYSTEM RESET button with a pointed item like the end point of a paperclip. The TV will turn Off and the TIMER light will flash quickly for about one minute. When the TIMER light stops flashing, you may again turn on the TV. The changes you made the last time the TV was on before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may be lost, however, the changes that were previously saved are not lost.
The SYSTEM RESET button is on the left of the front control panel of the TV itself.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

check out this manual for the programming codes to make the picture proper.but as you described your problem its necessary to get it repaired as inserting wromg codes will totally corrupt the inbuilt memory of the tv forever.

I have a vizio vw42L replaced power supply board with brand new board but no picture or sound when the tv comes on my problems with this tv all started because of a power surge any solutions?

After power supply replacement, some adjustments should be done to match the new power supply board. It will be best to contact any experienced service technician, since this work is a skilled one, and have to enter the service mode option screen; which is entirely different to that of user adjustment screen. Adjust the data value to this mode is very crucial, and improper data adjustments might make the TV might not respond to any command signals, either by remote control, or by its front panel control. Entering service menu and adjust data values there is a very skilled work.

A power outage last night. The tv was off, now it wont turn on. A blinking timer light on the front of tv is on.

Always include model numbers since problems are sometimes associated with particular models. This may be a sign that a line surge during power fluctuations has damaged the power supply. There are a least two supplies in any modern set; a small supply that provides voltage to the remote circuitry and this one is always on. The second supply is the main one that is turned on when the set is to be used. Reluctance to turn on is often a signal that certain components (capacitors) are failing in the main supply and they will continue to degenerate. Try pulling the plug and leaving the set overnight without any power. If a circuit is only 'confused' (locked up) this should reset everything. If it still will not turn on, then either the small supply for the remote circuitry was damaged during a surge or that the main power supply is not responding to the power on command.

My TX is about 14 year old. The picture alwasy was excellent until we had an exlectrical storm that knocked out the cable box to the TV. With a new cable box the TV works. The picture has excellent color,...

Try your cable box on a different tv set and also try connecting the cable directly into the t.v, if that makes no difference then your tv set may have a power supply problem that was caused by an a.c line surge during that storm.

Seems to me you should have to contact a technician to adjust manually the circuit side of it. Usually the screen and focus control knob on the flyback to adjust the settings.

After loud cracking noise no picture on plasma

The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. A power surge can cause the problem. Last thing you want ot do is void the warranty by opening up the TV. Here's info to get your warranty started:

Tv won't turn on

I suggest you unplug the set for about 15 minutes and then plug it in and try again. Sounds like you may have had a power surge/bump in the middle of the night. Althoguh you are using a surge protector, doesn'r mean the devise hooked to it can't lock up during a power surge.( Surge Protectors are an insurance policy only, not a garrentee ). If unplugging the set and waiting doesn't fix it, it will need to have the power supply section of the board repaired. Good Luck
