Wireless ssid not showing in some laptops and mobiles -dlink router

The D-Link wireless router may have the SSID broadcast turned off.
In this case only computers that have wireless connection to the D-Link will show the SSID.
If you know the SSID you can enter the SSID manually in the wireless card settings in the laptop/computer.
OR
Turn on SSID broadcast in the D-Link wireless settings.

Wireless light is on but when I bring in my laptop it doesn't find my network. Just quit working. ??

Turn the router off, and unplug the AC power.
Turn the router on, and wait until the lamps show that it's fully ready.

Be sure that you have _not_ disabled your laptop's wireless networking.
On your laptop, click to "view available networks".
Does the router's "SSID" show up in the output?

Connect an Ethernet cable between the Ethernet-port on the router and the Ethernet-adapter on your laptop.

Click Start
Click Run
Type 'cmd' and press ENTER.
In the "black" window, enter 'IPCONFIG'.
Find the line showing the IP-address of the "Gateway", probably something like '192.168.xxx.yyy'.
Start your web-browser, and enter: http://192.168.xxx.yyy
to connect to the router's web-interface.
Click to run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard".
The router should restart.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Repeat the "Show available wireless networks".

Or, try some other wireless-ready laptop or wireless-ready iPod Touch, to see if these devices can "see" your router's SSID.

It does not show wireless icon at all

(Post ur Operating System along with the problem and the Brand name of ur laptop)

Chk whether the wireless is turned On or not.
Certain laptops requires manual command from the user to turn on the wireless.

If possible try to remove the wireless from ur laptop and try to re-install it and re-install the drivers also.

Dell Inspiron 6000 won't connet wireless network after reinstall

check DEVICE MANAGER if the wireless card have the right driver installed. if you found that the wireless card have yellow exclamation point on the right it means, you installed a wrong driver.

check also in BIOS if the wireless card is enable and the switch is turn on.

press Fn+F2 to enable wireless radio/anthena (funtion key with wireless icon in blue color)

some dell laptop have hard switch located right side check this and turn the switch on.

if you want to see the icon n task bar, go to control panel....network connection...right click on wireless adapter...select properties...check Show on taskbar

Connection to laptop

If you have wireless capabilities on your laptop, then turn it on and right click the internet icon in your system tray (it should be crossed out to show that you have no connection), click on connect to network and it will show you all networks available. If your wireless router is up and running then this should show your network. Click on your network then click on connect. It will ask you for the password or the wpa key which will be the password that you generated for your network when you set up your wireless router. Type your password in then click ok, then you should be on the net. If your laptop does not have wireless capabilities then buy a wireless adapter and plug it into your usb port download the software that came with the wireless adapter then follow the same instructions above to access your wireless connection.

I hope this helps
