Question about Toshiba TECRA M9 Notebook
Can i change my vista os into xp? how will i know if xp is compatible with my laptop?
really need the answer to this one.
I know this post is 2 years old; but here is the solution. The older version of Windows XP doesn't come with the SATA driver needed for the Toshiba M9 at the start of installation. Solution 1) would be to download a third party Sata driver. During the beginning of installation, hit a button (can't remember what) to install a 3rd party driver. Downfall is that you need a USB floppy drive for this to work, so to buy an external floppy drive to load up Windows XP might not be a good solution. Solution 2) Download the latest copy of Windows XP with SP3, and the latest Sata driver on it. Example "Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 Integrated December 2010 + SATA Drivers By Maher". This torrent can be found on Demonoid. FYI, I'm using my Toshiba M9 right now with Windows XP Proffesional loaded.

The only issue about upgrading from Vista to XP is whether or not you can easily find the drivers for XP. Before you do anything, check out Toshiba's site and look up your model computer in the drivers section and see if they have XP drivers available. My experience on this suggests that they probably do not. Then try a google search using your model number followed by XP drivers and check out other people's posts and see if someone has readily made the drivers available. Once you check that out and if they don't, then you need to go into your device manager and write down all the devices that it lists for video, audio, network, chipset, etc. and download the xp drivers for each hardware device inside your laptop so, when you put on XP, you then have the drivers for those items that aren't native to XP.
Good luck and please don't forget to give this solution a rating of fixya. Thanks.

Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you
select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you
that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your
laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -
