Cleaned vent, trap etc per manual.  what else do I check?  Is it possible the pilot ignitor needs replacing?  Where is the pilot located?

On my dryer the igniter is rt behind the front panel. Take off the dooe and a few screws and pull it off. If the igniter lights at all it is good. Try also checking the entire discharge vent hose as sometimes it gets clogged way dn line and you might not notice it. Try squeezing it all the way dn.

My dryer runs but no heat.maytag neptune gas dryer.

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....
Good Luck!!

Clothes have to be dried several times before getting dry

The first thing to do is to remove the ryers exhaust venting tubes and clean them out thoroughly. Any lint build up will cause the moister sensor to keep the heat in check. It is a saftey device to prevent home fires from clothes dryers. Just on small clog will do this. If cleaned and still no heat listen for a clicking noise upon starting. If no click is heard the Spark ignitor is at fault. If it is clicking the moister sensor is at fault

It does not seem to be heating up. I cleaned the ducts, it spins, it just does not heat up and dry the clothes. Could the pilot light be out?

Your Maytag doesn't use a pilot light instead it uses a electronic ignitor. Since the ducts are all clear and there is power to the unit then the ignitor is most likely the problem.
Depending on how comfortable your are with home repair this is a relatively simple job. However the ignitor itself is rather delicate until it's installed so if you attempt it yourself be handle it with the utmost care
Hope this helps.
