This quadratic expression have two zeros, 7 and -1. Than you can write this as (x-7)(x+1)

Well, to answer part of your question, yes... the TI-89 does factor like this. it is inputted like this:
factor(6*x^2+11*x+4,x)
Check the catalog in the TI-84 (which is 2nd-zero) and look under F for factor()

The calculator itself does not have a computer algebra system and therefore cannot handle algebraic expressions.
Firstly turn the calculator on and press the "2nd" key. After you do that press the plus key (+). A little above that key you should see the world "mem". When you see the screen titled "Memory" move the cursor all the way down to the option that says "Reset". Once you do that you can choose to reset either the RAM memory or the factor settings. Hope this helps.
