Question about Gladiator GAFZ21XXMK Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

We have an older Kelvinator Deluxe refrigerator purchased in 1974. The freezer part works. The bottom barely cools regardless of the temperature setting. It has survived three hurricanes Rita, Gustav, and Ike, and we have no idea where the manual is. Due to sitting 37 days with the power off after Rita, much scrubbing with bleach was required, and we can find no identifying numbers. We had the same problem about 20 years ago, and the thermostat was replaced. This part was difficult to find because of the unit's age, so we got an extra one, but can't find where to access the old part. The identification on the part is ''K 1229226 control K 87''. We're hoping to find an old manual or diagram to download so we can replace this part. Thank you.

Problem solved, and another preventive maintenance trick was learned. For $19.95, I'll  spill the beans.  Your nick name is Schmutsky and your password is 4-15-forever.  to change your name and password to something you can more easily remember, but probably less applicable, go to your nearest mental health facility.

Refrigerator malfunction

samsung units have duel cooling. that means there is a evaporator in the freezer and the fresh food section. it is possible that the temp sensor in the refrigerator section could be bad. and they have been known to have defrost problems there to. the samsung is a complicated unit and its hard to describe how to repair since there is a lot of electronics that control everything. the best thing I could say is to unplug the refrigerator for a few minuets. sometimes this will reset everything and start the unit back to the factory settings. if that does not work I would call for service. hope it helped you some
