When I turn on Acer Aspire one notebook screen remains dark
I shut down my Acer Aspire One notebook on Saturday after using it and when Iturned it on again about 4 hours later, I had power from the machine but the screen remained dark.
I rang Acer tech support today and was told that this was an issue with this model and that there was a repair for it and it would be emailed to my other computer immediately and I couldd fix the problem myself........no email, no nothing so far and I am getting desperate as I need the small set to take away on Wednesday on holidays to stay in touch with everyone including my specialist as I am wheelchair bound with a rare condition

put and external monitor and if fail remains then your gpu is damaged, if monitor goes good then your screen is damage or the video cable, so in that case will require a technician to fix it. good luck
To start the computer in safe mode 1. You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2. 2. Click Start and then click Shut Down. 3. In the drop-down list of the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK. 4. As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears. 5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER. 6. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Solution? - not sure yet but having read solution by Hector_ahab, tried various F() buttons in conjunction with Fn button. Pressing Fn with F6 switches between black and normal screen on my Acer Aspire 5920. Fingers crossed!
