Acer Aspire T160 PC Desktop

Windows Recovery

By Joey2 - usenet poster

I just purchased an Acer Aspire T160 desktop and have some serious problems.
Number one, I didn't recieve ANY Windows XP cd's with my new computer. I was
prompted upon start up to create a back up cd, I did so. I fear I have some
spyware on my computer that no program can remove. I cannot access my task
manager, and can't do any such adminstrative actions. I've tried everything.

I want to reformat my Windows and start fresh. However, when I run the back
up cd, nothing happens. I am totally lost. What can I do. My computer is
running like crap and I have NO Windos cds.

incidently, you should have received some restore disks with your computer.
did you buy it new or second hand? if you bought it brand new and had
windows preinstalled, then go to the store and demand for your cd's. if you
download belarc advisor it will analyze your system and give you the product
key to your windows. also, there should be halographic stickers from windows
on you machine somewhere too.

if you boot from the cd's you recently made you should launch the process to
restore your drive.

but if you cannot then you might have to purchase windows xp to install on
your system. if you buy a windows cd, then you can repair the version you
already have, if its worth repairing. but if there is nothing valuable on
the harddrive, then a new install and reformatting of the harddrive is the
best way to go.

Acer's come with a recovery program that is one of the best in the industry.
not sure why you would consider this some kind of virus you have the
option to make a recovery disk of your system and for your protection. or
you can skip it and take your chances. just access the recovery program and
tell it to stop the nagging...
